It was perfect. It was Christmas morning and for one day there was peace throughout the universe.
There were presents to be open, feasts to be had and company to enjoy.
Merry Christmas!

Date: 2009-12-27 02:58 am (UTC)"Can we use the sex demon influence as an excuse again, or not? You are technically half, aren't you?" There was that sly twinkle in her eye again.

Date: 2009-12-27 03:24 am (UTC)But instead of pursuing the topic, she nibbled on another chocolate and idly carried the rest back into the kitchen.
"Where is Lilith, anyway?" she asked as she returned. "I'd almost say she's being more elusive than usual, but I know from experience that's not true."
Lilith hunting... it had been like a sport. A very difficult one...

Date: 2009-12-27 03:54 am (UTC)And now Lilith's soul-bonded was experiencing the memories of her lost love. That couldn't be helping at all...
But she was trying not to burden Josiah with such dark subjects today, and it was really something that she'd rather speak to Lilith about.
"I'm sure I'll get at least one chance to have a talk with her before you leave. I'll see if I can help at all... as long as she's not avoiding me in fear of those infamous talks."

Date: 2009-12-27 04:09 am (UTC)He sighed, trying to keep the small grin from his face. "You're good for her, whether she'll admit that or not. Those talks are like... chicken noodle soup for the demon's soul. You should probably market that and see what you can get out of it."

Date: 2009-12-27 04:18 am (UTC)"Chicken soup for the demon... I'll have to keep that in mind, then. Though I'm not sure about the market value. Most of the demonic entities I try to help are very resistant to the idea."

Date: 2009-12-27 04:38 am (UTC)"That would be helpful. As for miracles, well, we are living in a universe that's half Disney. Maybe there are happy endings, on rare occasions."
She paused, blinked, and frowned. Then her eyes widened in a look of horror. "Oh, gods! I know why the Heartless are back... We're stuck in a Disney sequel!"

Date: 2009-12-27 05:14 pm (UTC)Despite her insistence that 'hugs heal everything', she was not this cuddly with most people. But she'd been starved for the touch of someone she loved, and the soothing sensations that every little touch invoked were incredible to her.
For all of her mind games, dreams, and high ideals, she was just as enthralled by the solid world around her and the physical experiences of each moment. Given the arguments she'd made in the past, it was not something she tended to admit, but she was intent on making the most of it nonetheless.

Date: 2009-12-27 05:45 pm (UTC)He held her like that for a silent minute or two longer before squeezing her hand, and then he began to pull her out of the front room. "Come on. I might as well give you your present now before I'm pelted with snowballs in reminder all day."

Date: 2009-12-27 05:58 pm (UTC)she was in something of a blissful daze by the time he started to move, but perked up quickly enough and flashed him a small, knowing smile. "You shouldn't give me such ideas, Josi. Snowballs were far from my mind until you mentioned them."

Date: 2009-12-27 06:08 pm (UTC)He led her through Rainbow's End, somewhat surprised by the quietness of the whole house. Well, he couldn't blame them - yesterday had been ridiculously hectic (watching Sora attempt to decorate a Christmas tree until Riku and Roxas both dragged him off before he could do any more damage had been equal parts amusing and alarming).
He stopped when they came to the door to her room, and he turned to give her a humorously chiding look. "Don't get any strange ideas by this."

Date: 2009-12-27 06:19 pm (UTC)She gave him a look of mixed curiosity and amusement when he led her to her own room, and resisted the urge to make another jesting comment about having a boyfriend who was half-incubus.
"Now what sort of gift would you have to sneak into my room rather than leaving it under the tree with all the rest?"

Date: 2009-12-27 06:47 pm (UTC)A quick glance around the room would show nothing out of the ordinary... until one looked at the window. Sitting on the window sill was a sculpture completely made of colored glass, perhaps about ten inches high. It was an upright, unfinished ring, red in the lower left hand corner, blue in the upper right. At least, at first glance, that's what it looked like.
Further examination would show that it wasn't simply a sculpted ring - it was two creatures circling around each other. The red half of the ring - which turned out to be not just red, but bright orange so vivid that it might as well have been gold - was actually a phoenix, blue crystal eyes peering upwards, each tiny feather meticulously crafted, and its body gracefully strained in flight. Its wings lay close but not flat to its body, and its golden beak was open in a cry, not of challenge, but something else. It lay flying just beneath the blue portion of the ring - a dragon of the East, its scales glinting in teal, blue, silver, and green. Its claws were outstretched, and its body twisted as it reached for the fiery plumes of the phoenix's tail. Its own eyes were a startling red and between miniature yet still sharply pointed teeth was a pearl.
Both creatures framed an intricately-woven dreamcatcher, and the glass caught the light thrown from the winter sky, sending colors flying across the windowsill. The phoenix's form shifted like fire itself while the dragon seemed to capture the ice of winter, perfectly balanced, so realistic that it almost seemed that they would both take flight at any instant.
"I figured if I left it beneath the tree, it would end up broken," Josiah explained with a shrug.

Date: 2009-12-27 07:13 pm (UTC)More than that, it was one of the most beautiful pieces of artwork she'd ever seen.
"It's amazing," she said quietly as she moved to peer more closely at it, lifting a hand to follow the curve of the dragon as if stroking it without actually touching it. He'd chosen the perfect place for it, too. Her windows had been Mabry's design, grand arches of prismatic glass. Along with the variety of other figurines perched around the room - mostly dragons and fanciful equines - this piece managed to stand out while still seeming to belong here, and Song was quite obviously enchanted by it.
When she could pull her eyes away, she beamed at him.
"Thank you. Where did you find it?"

Date: 2009-12-27 07:21 pm (UTC)He hesitated then and almost seemed to fidget. "So you like it?"

Date: 2009-12-27 07:31 pm (UTC)His sudden uncertainty, even though faint, made her grin warmly. "Josiah, I love it. I'd love it if Maleficent gave it to me, but coming from you makes it... better than I have words for, at the moment. Although," she added, "I do prefer the other gift."

Date: 2009-12-27 07:38 pm (UTC)He seemed relieved at her next comment though. "Even though the first gift is only temporarily?"

Date: 2009-12-27 07:49 pm (UTC)He only gave her a suspicious look though when she said that she needed him to leave. "What did I say about taking over the world when I'm gone?"
