Who: Anyone and everyone, including some unexpected guests
What: Halloween party, oh yeah!
When: Saturday night
Where: Destiny Islands

Selphie adjusted the hat of her witch costume and surveyed her work. Well, okay, maybe Tidus and Wakka had helped out a little, but this was her idea to begin with! Mentally, she went down the list.

Decorations - check! There were ghosts and bats hanging from the trees, along with the occasional hung skeleton and a vampire or two lurking in the shadows - all fake, of course, but who cared? This was for fun! There was also a cutout of a werewolf up on one of the decks, made to look like it was howling at the moon. She took a peek at it; it would look great in silhouette!

Background noise - check! The boys had set up some soundtracks of scary noises for the background, and set them to play on repeat for the night. She counted it off on her fingers: there were supposed to be ghoulish wails, bat noises, the occasional werewolf howl... She shuddered violently as a shriek rang out, and gave a devilish grin. They'd done better than she'd expected. This party was going to blow everyone away!

Music - check! There was a stereo set up to play some Halloween music, just for today. A pile of CDs sat on the table next to it, waiting for someone to pick one and put it in to play. She trotted over and picked up the first one, but didn't play it yet. That could wait until more people were here.

Food - check! There were two tables set up that were almost completely covered in food. There was a bowl of gum ball eyes - Selphie plucked out a green one and chewed on it happily - and bowls of chocolate, one with a hand sticking out of it that was supposed to grab you when you went for a piece. She couldn't wait to see their reactions when it did! There were cookies with all kinds of festive Halloween shapes, from black cats to witch hats to pumpkins, and... deviled eggs decorated like little devils? Whose idea was that? Well, she decided, if they were the same person that had done those spider cupcakes, they weren't too bad.

Drinks - check! There were coolers decorated like treasure chests spread out around the party area, filled with all kinds of drinks. She would have liked if they creaked when they opened or something fun like that, but that was something they hadn't gotten to do, unfortunately. Maybe next year.

Bonfire - here, she hesitated. It wasn't quite dark yet, so they only had the firewood so far. She was really looking forward to lighting it, but... she didn't have a way to light it. Tidus or Wakka were supposed to bring matches, but they'd left to get into costume or something. She just hoped they came through.

Still, everything else was perfect! And with everyone coming back, they'd have a blast tonight, she decided cheerfully. She just hoped they all had great costumes... Hey, that was an idea! Maybe they could have a costume contest later on! Grinning, she made a mental note and went to sit down as she waited for someone else to show up.

Kairi wandered the area, briefly chatting with everyone she came across. It was nice being home, even as a brief trip.

She smiled faintly, adjusting the hat of her costume. It was a little awkward, seeing how she really wasn't a hat wearer, but a Red Mage without a hat just looked rather odd. Honestly, it was a rather well made outfit, easily being able to double as normal outer wear outside of Halloween. Not to mention all the hidden pockets with the potions and ethers she carried for those just in case situations. And it gave her a excuse to carry her sword rather openly without people asking too many questions. In all, a perfect costume for her worrywart bodyguard(s).

Sora had been back on the Islands for a day or two, checking up on everything and making sure everyone was alright. His mom had made a fuss over him, as usual, but he had accepted her hugs and kisses and cookies with all the exuberance of a seventeen-year-old boy. It made him feel less worried when he realized that everything was same old, same old at home.

But he knew that he'd have to leave again soon.

He arrived at the party later than he had expected, and adjusted his costume slightly. Last year, he had been a secret agent - this year, he was a Jedi. He figured it was appropriate enough, even though he had yet to see Star Wars. And a Keyblade was just as useful as a... what did they call it, a light sword? Dagger? Saber? He couldn't remember.

He caught Kairi's eye soon after he ventured into the party, and made a beeline straight for her, his smile growing wider. "Hey Kairi! I'm glad you're here!" I'm glad you're safe.

Roxas was still a little miffed about seeing Sephiroth at that party, but since he seemed to be behaving and there was no sign of Cloud, it was probably safe to go and mingle.

Actually, Roxas really didn't want to mingle, instead settling for following the one who had made him come in the first place. At least, he noted, she was taking the possibility of trouble into account. And she wasn't the only one using a real weapon as an accessory to her costume, which was a good thing.

Ah, there was Sora. Why he felt a little uncomfortable all of a sudden, Roxas didn't know, but he pushed it aside. He hadn't seen the dork in a while and he had kind of missed him. And he caught the worried undertone in Sora's voice. He didn't comment on it though. Somehow, he thought he might say something he shouldn't if he did.

"Having fun?"

Kairi smiled brilliantly at both of them, ignoring the slight pangs deep in her heart. She glanced over both of them, slightly amused of the costume choices. "Of course I'd be here." She replied. "I would never miss a chance to come home." At least for a little bit.

she glanced over to Roxas and smiled softly, noting his expression. It didn't take much to understand it, and she too could say she slightly felt the same. "I'm am. Are you having fun, Roxas?"

"Not really," he replied honestly. He purposely didn't mention that at least the free food was worth some of the boredom.

"Me neither," Sora replied honestly, grinning when Roxas walked up to them. If he noticed anything comfortable between the other two, he didn't say anything. His smile faded just slightly though, and only those who knew him extremely well would be able to tell that something just wasn't sitting right with him.

Still, his voice was extremely cheerful when he playfully teased them, "Aw, come on. It's Halloween. You can't not have fun on Halloween."
