Who: Anyone and everyone, including some unexpected guests
What: Halloween party, oh yeah!
When: Saturday night
Where: Destiny Islands

Selphie adjusted the hat of her witch costume and surveyed her work. Well, okay, maybe Tidus and Wakka had helped out a little, but this was her idea to begin with! Mentally, she went down the list.

Decorations - check! There were ghosts and bats hanging from the trees, along with the occasional hung skeleton and a vampire or two lurking in the shadows - all fake, of course, but who cared? This was for fun! There was also a cutout of a werewolf up on one of the decks, made to look like it was howling at the moon. She took a peek at it; it would look great in silhouette!

Background noise - check! The boys had set up some soundtracks of scary noises for the background, and set them to play on repeat for the night. She counted it off on her fingers: there were supposed to be ghoulish wails, bat noises, the occasional werewolf howl... She shuddered violently as a shriek rang out, and gave a devilish grin. They'd done better than she'd expected. This party was going to blow everyone away!

Music - check! There was a stereo set up to play some Halloween music, just for today. A pile of CDs sat on the table next to it, waiting for someone to pick one and put it in to play. She trotted over and picked up the first one, but didn't play it yet. That could wait until more people were here.

Food - check! There were two tables set up that were almost completely covered in food. There was a bowl of gum ball eyes - Selphie plucked out a green one and chewed on it happily - and bowls of chocolate, one with a hand sticking out of it that was supposed to grab you when you went for a piece. She couldn't wait to see their reactions when it did! There were cookies with all kinds of festive Halloween shapes, from black cats to witch hats to pumpkins, and... deviled eggs decorated like little devils? Whose idea was that? Well, she decided, if they were the same person that had done those spider cupcakes, they weren't too bad.

Drinks - check! There were coolers decorated like treasure chests spread out around the party area, filled with all kinds of drinks. She would have liked if they creaked when they opened or something fun like that, but that was something they hadn't gotten to do, unfortunately. Maybe next year.

Bonfire - here, she hesitated. It wasn't quite dark yet, so they only had the firewood so far. She was really looking forward to lighting it, but... she didn't have a way to light it. Tidus or Wakka were supposed to bring matches, but they'd left to get into costume or something. She just hoped they came through.

Still, everything else was perfect! And with everyone coming back, they'd have a blast tonight, she decided cheerfully. She just hoped they all had great costumes... Hey, that was an idea! Maybe they could have a costume contest later on! Grinning, she made a mental note and went to sit down as she waited for someone else to show up.

Roxas wasn't so sure that now was a good time for a party, but explaining exactly why to Selphie and the others would mean meddling, since they didn't know of other worlds. So Roxas had decided to keep his mouth shut. The only reason he was attending the party at this point was there was a chance something could happen. What exactly could happen, he wasn't sure, but there was always a chance. The biggest concern, actually, was Kairi. Being the only Princess of Heart who hadn't yet vanished, she was in quite a bit of danger. Granted, she had toughened up a bit lately, but with the possible enemies being unknown they couldn't be too careful. Hell, they probably couldn't be careful enough. He could try, though. To that end, he had come battle ready, with a stock of potions and ethers, the light mythril mail he'd gotten months ago worn under his costume and that ribbon Aria had given him carefully wrapped around his wrist so as to hide in underneath his checkered wristband. He only hoped the others would also be ready in case something happened.

But, so it was that he'd allowed himself to be dragged to the party and no he hadn't let anyone pick his costume for him. He'd gone with something fairly simple. Simple in that he'd simply replaced his normal short sleeved jacket with a long coat that, he realized now, had somehow been cut to fit him like his coat from the Organization had. It also zipped up. But it was off white with a red lined hood, red checkered strips in place of the black ones on his other jacket and large red checkers on the hems of the sleeves, the edge of hood and the bottom hem. The drawstrings for the hood did have some nice little beads on them, in silver with an image of the element they provided a resistance to, fire and ice in this case (so he'd hit the Moogles up something useful, sue him). His one accessory for the costume was a staff, a real one, not a cheap costume accessory type thing. He figured if he was going to do it, he might as well do it right.

Besides which, he suspected the guise of a white mage might possibly make for a decent disguise on some worlds. Hence, the coat wasn't a cheap costume either, but decently made and actually kind of warm.

At the moment, he was wandering around with the hood up. If anyone cared to look him over, they'd realize it was him since he still had his normal sneakers and jeans and he was still wearing his zip up shirt with the Thorn charm on the zipper pull. But, if they didn't think look him over, his face was well enough obscured that he wouldn't be recognized right away.

Fox had basically just said 'Meh' and decided to go as a samurai. The outfit hadn't been that hard. She gone with the simple kimono and hakama with light armor, as she was reasonably certain that even in a cheap costume type, the heavy samurai armor was just annoy her. Other than that, she had her katana, as the bow and arrows might have been a bit much at the moment. There woild be plenty of people so really, if something did happen, she didn't need to be armed to the teeth.

Not surprisingly, she went right for the food.

She arrived very late.

She stayed near the edge of the party, watching everyone quietly. She was wearing a very short bell-sleeved dress in shades of dark blue and green, lanced through with silvery gold, and over-the-knee boots. Over the ensemble she wore a black hooded cloak, the cowl pulled up to keep her beautiful, telltale features in the shadows. Her costume though - if one could call it a costume - caught the light of the jack-o-lanterns and the bonfire roaring just yards away.

She circled around the edge of the party, apparently searching for something... or someone.

Song had a rule. Never spend money (or munny) on a costume. At least not directly. Instead, she would dig through whatever materials she happened to have on hand and combine them in whatever way suited her.
Currently she was wearing the white Dreaming robe that had replaced her Organization coat shortly over a year ago, and a set of fully feathered white wings made entirely out of garbage bags and scotch tape. They were tied along her arms, all the way to her wrists, so that every move of an arm made a wing spread or sent plastic feathers fluttering. She was rather obviously enjoying it...

She drifted around near from the food tables, alternating between dancing to the music (making a great show of her wings) and swooping in to grab a handful of crackers or candy or whatever else caught her eye.

Aria arrived at the party dressed as a Black Mage. (http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/4/4e/TA2-HumeBlackMage.jpg) She was clearly agitated and a bit disheveled. Her brain may have been a bit broken as well.

The reason for this was standing not far away behaving as if his presence there wasn't odd in the slightest.

A rather unwelcome guest has shown up at the party. He was dressed as Sesshomaru (http://www.linsdomain.com/otherworld/pictures/sesshomaru11.jpg) and was just looking around at the decorations and other guests at the moment.

After staring at him for about five minutes, she couldn't stand it anymore.
Song marched up, plastic wings fluttering, and asked bluntly (though not impolitely), "why did you even bother dressing up?"

:3 Because it breaks brains. Why else?

Sephiroth regarded her for a moment before replying simply, "why not?"

It wasn't as if he felt the need to explain himself to anyone.

Song already had a reasonable answer worked out.

"Well, because you're Sephiroth. And Sephiroth is both greater and more frightening than Sesshomaru. So, theoretically, you could just dress up as yourself and be even more impressive than you are right now."

He gave her a slightly bemused look.

"Now that wouldn't be a costume then, would it?"

She blinked at him innocently, laughing only in her mind.

"Well, no... but why Sesshomaru? I mean, yes, he looks and acts a bit like you, but I'm surprised you even bothered to research who he was. I admit, the colors look better on you than I'd expect, but you could have done something more universally known. You'd make a good grim reaper."

Why was she critiquing Sephiroth's costume choice? Her more cautious side suggested that this might be unwise... unfortunately her cautious side had already been mostly buried under large amounts of sugar.
Besides, coming in costume to their Halloween party put him on equal terms with them, as far as she as concerned, and there was something immensely fun about chatting casually with a videogame villain. She knew this from years of experience.

Honestly he hadn't even known anything about the character until he had seen a reference to him on the network and decided to look it up.

"Just a whim for the most part," he replied casually. That and he liked not having to do much to his hair for it to look right but, he certainly wasn't going to tell her that.

He didn't intend to cause any trouble at this time but, that would most likely depend on Cloud if he showed up.

:p

"Nice to know that not all of the great Sephiroth's whimsical ideas are full of doom and darkness." She was teasing him. Teasing him with a playful, friendly smile.

Oh yes. She'd definitely been experiencing silver-haired villain withdrawal.

Sephiroth was not exactly used to people actually enjoying his company. He found it somewhat refreshing.

"Even I can get bored with that occasionally," he replied with a slight smirk.

She gave a small laugh, placing a hand on her hip in somewhat more confident pose. She hadn't known, at first, how he would react to her familiarity, and she'd been prepared for a hasty retreat if necessary, but he didn't seem insulted or annoyed, and that was encouraging.

After all, it was Song's greatest joy and most rewarding game to make friends with everyone, no matter who or what they were.

"Yeah, I tried the whole doom thing a while back. It's an interesting career move, but it's not very good for relationships."

He may be enjoying casual conversation for a change but, that does not necessarily make him friend material. He did end up terrorizing a gummi ship pilot just to get here after all.

He found it interesting that no one seemed curious about how he had gotten here.

"I suppose it's a good thing that I have no interest in relationships then," he replied, assuming it was obvious that this was not going to be a common situation.

She shrugged. The answer was expected. "That may be the case, but it makes me curious as to why you are here. Spying on us?" She didn't sound concerned by this prospect, nor was she expecting him to actually say yes.

"Honestly. Just a whim," he replied, clearly amused by the idea of spying on them. This was the last place he expected to get any information of value.

"You must really be bored. Has Cloud not been paying enough attention to you?" she asked sympathetically..

"There are other reasons to look in on a gathering of you Refugees," a sultry voice murmured from behind them. The owner of the voice stood just a few feet off, the hood of her cloak still up, but her features were unmistakable in the dancing shadows and flame. "Something interesting always happens when they get together."

So far, this party was turning out to be boring. Roxas was spending most of his time hanging out by the food.

He had been about to remark on how Aria seemed a little frazzled, until he looked up and saw the likely cause of her displeasure.

"Are you fucking kidding me?"

... ... ...

He was in Cloud's head for a year so... he's pretty much had enough of him for the moment. And he's not sure he wants anyone to know that he was in Cloud's head in the first place.

He's just looking at her as if she has a few screws loose.

Song whirled on the owner of the voice with a startled smile. Here was someone much more interesting than Sephiroth, in her opinion.

"Lilith! I thought you left with Josiah! Or did you sense that I was trying to get myself in trouble again and fly back to rescue me from Sephy's wrath?"

"I should have stayed in bed," Aria said miserably.

Well, on the plus side, the party wasn't boring anymore. Corollary: it may have gotten dangerous. However, Roxas wasn't so sure Sephiroth's presence was why the Keyblade was humming.

"It might not have been a bad idea..."
