Who: Awiergan and Hex
What: A civil meeting! Maybe. >_>
Where: A cafe somewhere in Labyrinth City, Wanderer's Refuge
When: During Star Market
It hadn't been hard for Awiergan to find a nice, not too busy place to have her little meet up with Hex. The hard part had been convincing the overprotective warrior that nothing would happen to his little klutz. Actually, she'd let Amy do that, then shoved her into a mental closet, looks and all, as soon as they'd been out of Jalen's sight. She'd been a bit torn about bringing Eli along; while she wanted to show him off, she didn't trust Hex. In the end, she'd left him with his father.
Sighing, she idly stirred the raspberry tea she'd ordered. The sooner Hex got here, the sooner she could get the 'civility' over with and finish her personal shopping.

So long as they didn't listen to the quiet string of curses pouring their way out of her mouth.
Well, this trip has been a major bust so far. Getting checked out by the doctor told me nothing I didn't already know, and every interesting book on enchantment is either useless, or warded against theft so well I wouldn't even reach the door before being caught.
Although, the journey hadn't been entirely useless. A thick, blank book, with a rich red leather cover, sat in her bag. A little pricey considering her tiny budget, but very ideal for her next project. A Grimoire to call her own. Time, research, and propably more white-out than she'd like to admit would be involved, but it would be an interesting project.
She pushed the thought out of her mind, as she approached the cafe Awiergan had agreed to meet her at. Spotting a familiar head with a more normal hair color, Hex closed the distance in seconds.
"Hey there, Red. How's tricks?"
(OOC: Awiergan's hair is red, right?)

"Been better. Took you long enough."
Red? Really? Well, at least Hex wasn't calling her Madame Terrorist. A corner of her mouth lifted in a brief grin. While she despised the name, it was beginning to strike her as funny. Maybe it could go in her own scrapbook.
(ooc: Yep. ^^)

"Hey, you didn't exactly pick an easy to find place." She smirked a little. "Which was the point I suppose."
"And if you don't like 'Red', I'm all ears for another nickname. 'Awiergan' just doesn't roll off my tongue, you know?" Hex shrugged. "Don't get me wrong, it's dignified and all that. Wouldn't be out of place in some big theatrical production. But, it's a little big for some casual conversation."

There was a menu lying close to her cup; Awiergan reached over and began to play with a corner of it while watching Hex.
"I didn't pick my name with you in mind, sorry." She grinned suddenly. "I can't believe it took Jalen as long as it did to figure it out. Really, he nicknames her 'blessed' and doesn't realize mine means 'cursed'? Off his game a bit I guess."
Her gaze dropped to the menu. The lime cake looked appealing, maybe she could allow herself a little slice. She didn't exactly need munny for the books she planned on getting, after all.
no subject
Huh. 'Cursed'. There's something I didn't know.
"So, the Accursed is hanging out with the Hex." She giggled a little. It was a simple joke, but one had to take their laughs where they could.
"And, to be fair, it's not like you don't have an ideal hiding place. The best spies are the ones no expects afterall."
Damn, but there's a lot of cakes on this menu. Pound cake, carrot cake, chocolate- is that ice-cream? Sweets, sweets, and more sweets.
She flipped the page.
Alternatively, I could have just been looking at the dessert section.
"So, anything in particular you're looking for this year at the Market?"
no subject
"No, see, it was an ideal hiding place, but then it had to be spoiled by Eli." This was as close as Awiergan had ever come to being mad at the child, and she wondered again why she couldn't just hate him as much as she hated his father. "Aside from Amy blabbing to her dear 'sister' and Jalen telling Ray for fear of her kicking his ass if he didn't, it might've lasted longer. Now they all know."
She pushed her menu away in disgust. She was deliberately avoiding mentioning that Eli had been able to out her because of her own actions; if she hadn't left her pendant for him-
"Books." She said suddenly. "Just a few simple little books." She wasn't sure herself yet quite what she intended, so there really wasn't much she could tell Hex. Not that she'd want to even if she knew for sure.
"And you?"
no subject
She let it go anyway, to get her further off the rather tetchy subject of Eli. Ah, maternity. It screws with everybodies heads.
"Spell components, and base materials for my Grimoire." She really didn't think mentioning it was a good idea, but it never hurt to let allies know what you were working on. Well, in this case it actually could, and quite a bit. And, given who she was talking too, it could hurt even more than that.
Hex flipped another page, looking over many exotically colored drinks in strange cups and glasses. What's a 'Blue Hawaiian'?
"This looks interesting."

<<OOC: I have a poor knowledge of alcohol, and Hex is about as socially active as a man with leprosy. Together, this translates to 'Well, this is blue. That's for berry, right?'>>

"You should order something...I think I'll have some lime cake. Probably not the best to go with raspberry tea, but.." She shrugged, waving over a waitress.

"The idea was that you could set this up somewhere with a lot of people, let it sit for a day or two, and then collect some free energy. No one even notices anything. But, I just can't get the damn thing to work properly." She sighed, and ran a hand through her hair. "I've been at it for awhile, and this stupid efficiency problem keeps on looping back to me."
By this time, the waitress had arrived.
Flipping back a page, Hex took a quick glance at the menu.
"Hey, I'll have a 'Blue Hawaiian', and a 'Bravo Burger'." Quite honestly, she trusted the name of the burger less than the drink. But, apart from the name, it seemed tasty enough by the description.
no subject
"That sounds annoying beyond belief. About the only experience I have with drawing magic is what Amy knows, and that doesn't go any farther than the magic draws in Final Fantasy VIII...which is to say, not much at all."
no subject
Which applied to more than the drawing project, but Awiergan didn't need to know about that.
"Ah, but we didn't really come to chat about work. How much time are you spending with Eli nowadays?" This, Hex predicted could have a rather interesting answer.
no subject
"Truth or incredible fiction?"
Incredible fiction first. None, she never went near him. Was doing exactly what Maleficent had told her to do. Leave the child alone, let his 'mother' care for him. If they ended up needing him for anything, her wonderful, trusted co-workers would see to him. Over her dead body.
Truth?
"Enough to keep an eye on him...or rather, the idiots around him."
All right, so it wasn't truth exactly, more like a little white lie. Or a medium-sized black one.
"What's it matter to you?"
no subject
Hex leaned back into the chair, and took a look across the street outside. People walked back and forth. Some were alone, but there were very few who didn't have at least one person with them. Friends. Lovers. Family.
"I consider family to be something rather important. And I very much doubt that you do no consider Eli your child." A good soldier follows their orders, but a good commander gives orders they know will be followed. What was Maleficent thinking? "That much should be rather obvious."
She turned her gaze towards the ceiling, the next topic clearly making her a little nervous. There's no real delicate way to put this, is there?
"The second reason, is well... I don't know much about how Maleficent, ah, drew you out? From what little I know of you people, you seem like somewhat... incomplete existences. You seem to know and understand more negative emotions rather well. But you're all rather sociopathic, in the same instance. No offense."
"Now, spending more time with Eli makes you empathize. You care about his happiness and welfare. Not something one generally expects out of a being createdly from the darkness of another. This makes you a more rounded out person. You get a little 'light', to balance out your darkness."
Hex drums her fingers on the table, looking back to Awiergan.
"Ah, but I'm drifting. The point is, that being with Eli probably affects you in such a way, that you become a more psychologically 'normal' person." She shrugs, absently. "Probably anyway. And for a given value of 'normal'."
no subject
"He should be mine. He doesn't need her. I can teach him what he needs to know, she'll just ruin him. Once I've-"
She stopped abruptly and the sad smile disappeared, replaced with her usual smirk. "Sociopathic? How lovely. Honestly, I'm not sure how Maleficent drew me out. I've always been below the surface, and then.."
Awiergan shrugged. "It's certainly more fun out here."
no subject
"Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Tin-tin about to pop? How unusual do you think the new little sprite will be?" By now, the waiter had returned with their order. That was quick. "More specifically, how many 'non-human' characteristics will it have, assuming the comparison is a baseline human baby? I'm personally thinking that the little sprite will have fangs at least."
no subject
She eyed Hex's drink with distaste; it had the appearance of an opaque glass of Windex.
