Ring the Alarm

Who: Yuna and whoever shows up
What: Monsters are attacking D8
Where: The Great Maw
When: Feb 28
Status: Active

Yuna fluttered back and forth in a worry. She was back near the maw, keeping an eye on the suddenly overpopulated maw. Watching for the most part, hoping that none would suddenly make a rush for the town. For the most part they had just been idly wandering closer every now and again but with each foot closer they got, the more nervous she became.

"Oooooh. I hope they come quick." She muttered to herself, wishing the others to come faster. They were coming closer again, and it wouldn't be long until they reached the Bailey.

(whoops. forgot to mention it earlier but Behemoths are open to any of these so have fun choosing which ones you're fighting. Please note not all of them are defeatable the same way, etc, etc. And all smaller other monsters are free for your own choosing. Have fun and PLEASE KEEP TAGGING. >:)

Auria raced to the Maw, boots pounding the ground as she rounded to the Bailey. She leaped and glided to the ground, ignoring the now almost-completed staircase, and once again lengthened her stride to cover the remaining ground. Her hammer felt weightless in her right hand; she barely felt the gentle slap of the potions she had strapped around her chest.

The one thing she did feel was her bracelet, cold despite the hot blood pumping through her and heating her skin.

Her breath began to come ragged as she burst through the Fissure and leaped over the side of the Maw. As she glided over the soon-to-be battlefield, her heart turned to ice. Was it possible for so many Behemoths and other, similar creatures to be here at once?

Auria turned, arcing widely in her glide to catch Yuna. She shot the obviously anxious girl what should have been a reassuring grin, but turned more into a worried countenance mirroring poor Yuna's. Not very uplifting at all.

At last she hit the ground and ran fingers through her pulled-back hair. They were really in the soup now.

Ray grabbed her nunchaku and a few grenades as soon as she'd replied to Yuna's post and ran out the door, quickly making her way toward the Maw. Once she got there, she stopped in amazement, staring in amazement. There were... a lot more than she'd expected.

"We can take 'em," she murmured, grinning. She couldn't do it alone by any means, but with everyone else -

- Oh, look, there was Auria. She trotted over, not losing that confident smirk.

"Aw, we're not scared of a few Behemoths, are we?" Ray teased, offering her a hand to help her up. "C'mon, we can make quick work of these things. There are others on the way anyway."

Behemoths. The real thing this time, not Heartless. Lovely. And what kinds were there? The Ivalice ones which were ogre sized and carried big ass swords or the huge purple quadrapeds that the Heartless had vaguely resembled? Fox supposed she would see when she got there. On the plus side, this time she knew better Healing magic was generally better equipped as a fighter. But really, her main thought as she arrived at the Bailey?

'Fuuuuck.'

And going into repeat as she headed out to the Maw and actually saw the horde. It was not all Behemoths, but there were still a lot of large monsters.

"We're well and truly fucked this time, I think," she muttered. A short moment's debate saw her deciding that this was probably as good a time as any to try out the toxic arrows she'd been experimenting with since the first monsters had shown up.

This battle was going to suck either way.

Auria tried to grin, but swallowed. "There are still a helluva lot of them, regardless of how many we have. Wish we had Josiah and that flying board thing he had during the Tesseract Battle."

"Pfft, you say that like we're helpless without him. I'd like to think we can handle ourselves well enough." She waved lazily at Fox and, calling upon her Thunder magic, turned and charged straight for the first Behemoth.

It didn't take long for Ari to reach the maw, mostly relying on gliding her way there so she didn't do something stupid like slip on the stairs and bash her head open before the fight even began.

Reaching the maw, she got there just in time to hear the end snippets of the conversation and stopped to watch Ray charge ahead. "Heeeey." She called, "Don't tell me you were planning to start without me!"

"Start?" Auria wondered, and suddenly she felt herself slide back into her usual battle-fever. "Heh. Why would we wait for a slowpoke like you?" And she charged after Ray into the heart of the beasts.

Fox sighed. This was going to be messy. She decided to hang back and play healer for the time being, this being the reason she'd gotten the bow and arrows in the first place. In this case, there seemed to be a need for some air cover. A number of flying monsters hung around, watching for opportunities to attack. Fox shot a bird monster out of the air and wondered briefly if she had her notebook on hand. There were going to be a lot of things to write down if she survived this battle...

Ari pouted at Auria's back, making fake sniffing sounds. "It's not my fault I was making sure I didn't accidentally kill myself on my way here."

She snickered quietly, before suddenly grinning wildly, her eyes alight with glee. "And who says I'm slow?!" She yelled before bouncing on her heel and accelerating herself with glide alongside them.

Auria grinned when Ari caught up. To the best of her knowledge, she had never fought alongside the other girl, so this would be new and exciting. They drew close to the fray, and Auria split to the left to ram her hammer into the nearest Behemoth's knee.

This strategy had worked before, and it worked this time. The beast came down on that knee, allowing Auria to jump up to its back and attack the horns. Several hits and a potion later, the Behemoth was down and Auria was on her way to another one.

[identity profile] seolearo.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ray bypassed that one and charged toward another, unleashing a fierce barrage on it. When it fell, she attacked the horn, throwing in a few Fira spells occasionally. When that one was finally finished, she raced off to the next, still sporting that grin.

Fox was finding in better to focus on airborne enemies for the moment, though she occasionally let a Behemoth here or there have an arrow or two. Her plan, if she had one, was to avoid melee until she either ran out of arrows or an enemy decided that it needed to do something about the archer. In the meantime, she had attention split between taking out airborne monsters, distracting larger monsters and being ready to heal when it was needed.

((OoC: Ray, you just described killing a Heartless Behemoth... Er, shit so did Auria... KH is the only game where Behemoths only have their horns as a weak spot.))

[identity profile] nachtstar.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
For the moment, Ari focused on the smaller critters, knowing full well that they'd be bothersome in the midst of Behemoth fighting. Her fans were in it's usual Butterfly Sword form, slicing her way though a pack of Wolves. In the corner of her eye she noticed one of the downed Behemoths twitch and frowned. "Oooooooi. Make sure they're really honest to goodness dead!" she yelled in the middle of ducking a claw swipe.

(tell me if this works with the behemoths, mmkay?)

[identity profile] auriatetsukai.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Auria heard and opened her mouth to reply, but ended up gritting her teeth as some of the smaller creatures made a beeline for her. In a few swings of her hammer they were dead, and she was rushing past their bodies for the next Behemoth.

This was not a Heartless. These were probably Final Fantasy creatures and she had no idea how to defeat them.

Just beat shit up, she decided, and promptly did exactly that. It was slow work, hitting the Behemoth's legs and swinging her hammer upwards to hit its belly. It keeled over and she hit it as many more times as she could.

And then she saw the rivulets of blood.

Auria stopped, choking back a gasp, and lifted her hammer to examine it. It was dripping, the blood coming off in streams to pool at her feet.

This was so much different than fighting Heartless, whose only "blood" was in the form of inky darkness. This was like killing a real animal.

Auria swallowed the bile rising in her throat and shoved her emotions into her stomach. Living creatures or not, they were still going to destroy Radiant Garden, and she had volunteered to control them. She had a duty to this city.
