Who: Fox, Mulan, Ray, Rox, Roxas
What: Looking into the distress signal
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: Land of Dragons
Status: ongoing

Ray huffed.

Mulan had filled them in on the situation once they'd arrived - villages, land, and crops were being destroyed all over China, and were only working their way closer to the capitol. Rumors were flying around, saying something about monsters fighting. Mulan's current mission was to track the cause down and, if possible, get rid of it. When she'd realized she was in over her head, she'd called for help. And now that help was here, they just had to wait.

And wait. And wait.

They were stationed in what was thought to be the next site of the so-called battle, and they - well, Ray and Roxas, at least - had been waiting since last night. Ray was beginning to wonder if they weren't just in the wrong place or something. It was hard to guess.

"I dunno about you guys, but I'm really getting sick of waiting for these 'monsters' to come put on a show," she sighed.

"If we knew a little more about them, we might be able to find them instead of waiting around for them to show up," Roxas replied, "I mean, do we really know for sure that they'll be coming here or are we just guessing?" He was probably expressing a little more frustration with this situation than he actually felt for it, seeing as he still had other things on his mind. It was too quiet here and the lack of a distraction allowed his mind to wander back to the night before.

'Stupid. I really should have said something sooner,' he thought.

Waiting wasn't usually a chore for Rox, except for times like these. It had been hours since she and Fox had arrived, and there was no sign of the reported monsters. She knew she had to be alert, focused, ready for an attack - one that was taking it's sweet, sweet time to come. It was difficult, and made the whole process more tedious.

She was thankful for the company, however. Without it, her mind would have starting drifting long ago.

"That's a good question. I almost want to suggest spreading out a little and keeping an eye on areas with more people, but if we're attacked we all need to be together." she replied, scanning the area around her. All was quiet, still, and she sighed. At least the scenery was nice.

The prospect of a battle with an unknown threat was never fun. The prospect of fighting that threat when one of their number was clearly distracted was even less appealing. Fox was reasonably certain that Roxas wasn't going to be fighting at his best, what with Kairi being missing and the whole drama bomb of the night before when those not in the know found out he and Kairi were an item. Honestly, he looked like he hadn't been sleeping well, or even at all, now that she thought of it. She watched him fidget for another moment before turning to Rox.

"I think we're better off staying together. We know jack shit about these monsters, so the last thing we really want is to be caught alone, I should think." She checked her pockets. This was going to suck. She only had a few potions and one ether and her armor was off with the rest of her stuff being sealed off in Radiant Garden. She doubted that she was the only one caught so thoroughly off guard, but now she knew she had to do something to make sure she'd be better prepared in the event of another shift.

Roxas had no argument for anything that was said about the monsters. He was also trying to pretend he hadn't noticed how they kept looking at him. They had to have noticed that he was a bit distracted, but if they got distracted worrying about him, there might be a problem.

"Let's just try not to do anything stupid," he said, "There's been enough drama. I don't think we need to add to it by--"

The roar in the distance cut him and he turned in the direction of the sound as did everyone else. Their monsters had arrived and was it just his imagination or were they both flying monsters? Lovely.

He was going to start cursing at that, but the touch on his shoulder and the question reminded him of his earlier concerns about being distracted, gave him reason to pause and think on it. It made quite a difference. He couldn't work anything out or help anyone if he went and got himself killed because he couldn't focus on the task at hand. With that in mind, he took a deep breath and let it out slowly before replying, "Yeah. I'll be fine."

Thankfully, Rox was pretty well off despite being unable to reach Radiant Garden. A pack attached at her belt contained about 1/4 of her Hi-potion supply and a few Ethers, and she had both her weapons at ready. She drew only her shortsword, however, when the monsters finally arrived. If they were flying, a dagger would be useless...so would her sword, actually, but it would be less useless, especially if she ran out of mana.

Knowing Ray, she thought, I'll probably have to use most of my Ethers on her. Though maybe she was a bit to hasty in expecting that - after all, she would be making fairly libral use of Ultima as well.

"So remind me." she said, "Do we actually have a game plan?"

Magic really was beginning to look like their best choice. They had two large fliers to deal with and no ranged weapons with them, much to the consternation of the one ranged weapon user present. Finally seeing the creatures and realizing what they were gave Roxas plenty of reason to add prayers to the list of things they needed at the moment. Aside from that, he could only echo Ray's sentiment about this explaining why there's such a problem.

"Isn't Bahamut the one that can cast a killer Flare?" he asked, summoning his Keyblades, Oblivion in his right as usual and a different one in his left. If he was remembering correctly, it was called Leviathan. He'd just found it the day before and something clicked. He knew it was his, though all he knew besides that was that he'd last seen it when he was still with the Organization. That was something to think of another time, though. He had more important things in the here and now, such as to rather large creatures having a spat and not caring about the damage they were causing around them.

Breaking up the fight was probably easier said than done, but they had to try. Since Ray was already going for Bahamut, Roxas took aim at the Phoenix, sending a Blizzaga toward the bird.

A bit belatedly, he considered the possibility that the two might team up to eliminate this interruption, but there was nothing he could when the spell was already cast...
