Darkest before the Dawn

What: The Attempt to Fix Song (One Larkin was enough?)
When: Tuesday evening
Where: the workroom at Rainbow's End
Who: Mabry, Song, whoever turns up, Mabry's "guests"

Mabry had not felt like eating dinner, but had known she would need the energy for the work that lay ahead, so she had forced herself to eat a sandwich with a large cup of chamomile tea to calm her nerves. She hated the taste of chamomile, but she suspected she would need the sedative effect.

She had covered the floor of the workroom with cushions and double checked that the wards protecting the room were active. She was waiting to light the incense until the working began. The special guests were already there, sitting in a circle around the room. Mabry leaned back against one of the cushions near the middle of the room and waited for the others to arrive.

((I'm here. I still exist. I swear. The Song muse hasn't completely vanished under the Revan one, no matter what it looks like.))

Song slunk in as if she wanted to be somewhere else. She didn't know why she felt this way, which probably meant it was Medrau's anxiety bleeding through. At least in part.

She didn't give a verbal greeting, but that wasn't unusual for her. Nor did she comment on the company her sister had chosen to include. She simply made a beeline for the center of the room and chose the cushiest looking pillow there, sinking down with her legs folded neatly beneath her.

She pretended to have a clue as to what was expected of her. Really she had just decided to wait for direction rather than pester people with questions.

Aria entered a bit later and remained by the door. She didn't know if she could be any help but, it didn't hurt to be close by. Just in case.

Seph didn't come inside the room but, he was nearby.

Amy was not in the best of moods. She was always pissy when someone messed with her son, but this time? Oh-ho boy. She'd been up with Eli for half the night after all hell broke loose, and once she'd finally gotten him under again she'd hung around his dreams to make sure he'd be okay, so she didn't feel very rested. She'd caught a nap earlier at some point, but it hadn't been nearly enough.

I am too damn pregnant to be dealing with this crap.

She almost expected a faint taunt from Awiergan about that, and was grateful when it didn't come.

She mumbled a sort-of greeting to Seph and Aria as she passed them and took a seat within poking distance of Song as Mabry was speaking. Late again, joy.

Song gave her sister a stubborn 'thank you for explaining the obvious' look, and addressed Amy instead.
"You're really sure this will be safe for the tunaspawn?" She caught one of Amy's hands between both of hers, toying with her friend's fingers as a means of fidgetting.

Even though Aria was starting to feel like she really didn't belong here right now she couldn't help snickering at 'tunaspawn'.

It seemed like it would be weird to leave now so, she just waited.

Light magic wasn't something Seph had to deal with much so, they didn't really know what it could do to him. It was probably a good thing he'd opted to stay out of the room considering what was going to be attempted.

Amy tilted her head and watched Song play with her fingers. Since it was her right hand she didn't attempt to pull away. Besides, she could feel that Song needed the distraction.

Tunaspawn?

"...I dunno. I hope so. Don't suppose we have much choice...and I kinda...worked something out."

She hoped. She glanced back at Aria when she heard the snicker, and found herself grinning at her, just a little.

"D'ya think we should keep that one for her? Ladybug and his kid sister Tunaspawn?"

She was completely serious.

Aria stared for a good ten seconds after everyone else collapsed. She didn't think they'd all just dropped dead but, it didn't hurt to check anyway.

Seph came in as she was checking the nearest princess. His skin was still tingling from all that Light even though he hadn't been that close to the room. "What happened?" he asked so Aria would notice he was there.

"Stuff. I guess they're either exhausted or... side effect." She shruged. Not really much she could do about that or side effects. Not really something she studied for. "Stay close for now, okay?"

He just nodded and leaned on the wall next to the door. They'd likely have to dig up someone more experienced if there was no change soon.

A few minutes later, Amy's eyes snapped open and she tried to scramble to her knees from where she'd fallen over when the spell hit. She had the vaguest impression of a fight, of Awiergan's anger, of claws digging into her Heart, trying not to lose their grip. That wasn't what had scared her awake, however. She was remembering things that Awiergan had done, all of it; taking Eli and the things she'd been busy doing, the spells she'd learned, standing in a cavern with Maleficent, having 'lunch' with Hex in a city on Wanderer's Refuge, killing Anexiel...killing Anexiel. Not just the last bit of it like before, where the shock had forced her back to herself, or maybe Awiergan had let her go for fun, but she remembered coming up behind the other woman and raising the dagger, she remembered-

Her attempt to sit up properly ended with her swaying sideways and falling onto her butt. Amy looked wildly down at her hands and flexed the fingers for a moment before sighing and burying her face in her hands. The movement pushed her glasses up and she muttered something before laughing and falling onto her back.

"Oomph. Never. Again."
