"I'm gonna kill that lousy little manslut for this, see if I don't..." Ren grumbled as she attempted to hide the greenery that hovered around her head beneath a Santa hat. Not exactly the most charitable of Christmas tidings, but waking up to find a nigh-indestructible sprig of mistletoe hanging around had soured her cheer somewhat. Somehow, this was James' fault, she was certain of it.

In any case, she still had presents to deliver, and she couldn't very well spend the entire day locked up in her room. With a final, futile tug of her hat, Ren stepped out of her apartment and headed out to spread some Christmas cheer.

Maybe she wouldn't run into James today, that'd be nice. Then again, getting to punch him in the gut would also be nice. It felt like he was making fun of her hopelessly single status with the mistletoe, something Ren did not appreciate one bit.

Mistletoe on Christmas was expected, of course. Riku, for the most part, usually chose to ignore it.

But when obnoxious little plant was hanging over your head, following you, that was difficult.

Sure, he could have left it alone. He could have just ignored the thing all day. But it wasn't just him - Sora, Kairi, and everyone else he had seen had a piece of mistletoe floating above their head, too. It was unusual - suspicious. Best thing to do, he had decided, was to ask Merlin about it, and make sure there wasn't something wrong.

So that's what Riku was doing - walking the streets of Radiant Garden, keeping his eyes ahead, steering his brain away from the obvious solution to his mistletoe issue.

Yay, it was Christmas! Amy was way too excited about this, but hey, she had perfectly good reason to be. This time last year, the closest that Eli had gotten to a present was his very pregnant mother sitting next to the tree (and possibly being permanently stuck there). This year, he'd get to open things himself, and she was going to take so many pictures, and-

Actually, it'd probably be just a tad more exciting if she wasn't being distracted by the sprig of mistletoe floating over her head. She hadn't actually noticed it until she'd passed by a mirror, and then she'd just been speechless. Maybe it was a curse or something that Awiergan had put on her...but then she noticed Jalen had one. And Mabry. And Eli.

After trying to set fire to it, and freeze it, and eventually squish it into oblivion with Barrier - all done on herself, of course - she'd given up and taken Eli downstairs to see the tree. Jalen, at the moment, was still in bed, refusing to be seen with such a lack of dignity.

For the first time in ages, Aqua awoke from a deep, restful sleep. Her eyelids fluttered as she remembered what day it was, groggily debating whether or not she should get up just yet. The rational part of her mind won out, and she sat up to stretch and do the usual morning rituals. As she passed by the bathroom mirror, however, she paused and had to backtrack a few steps.

What is that...? she wondered, poking at the floating plant above her. When the attempt to grab it and hold it close enough for inspection failed, she simply looked closer in the mirror. Mistletoe? It wasn't something they saw much of back in the Land of Departure, but she knew the tradition. If you caught under the mistletoe, you had to give someone a kiss. And this little bit of it didn't seem to be going anywhere, either, so she supposed she would have to kiss someone to be rid of it?

Well, that's one way to be festive, she thought with a blush and a chuckle. She'd have to look into getting a kiss after some breakfast...

Meddy was still getting used to Mabry's house (inn? mansion? miniature castle?) Well, it might as well have been a castle. It had the same kind of magical thrill that eleven-year-olds in a completely different universe would experience during their first rides to a certain magicians' school. At least that's what Medrau was secretly reminded of.

And here she was spending Christmas on another world. Talk about life being full of surprises.

Speaking of surprises... "Whose idea was it to make the poisonous, parasitical plantlife fly?" she asked nobody in particular, ignoring the paranoid suspicion that the thing would try to drop berries into her breakfast. Obviously the desired result was an overabundance of smooching, not assassination... Maybe she could track down the other newbie and spare them both the awkwardness of mixing with the veteran refugees.

Mabry woke up, saw the sprig of mistletoe over her head, and giggled. Then she turn over and kissed her husband twice. As the mistletoe over both their head vanished, she rolled over and went back to sleep.

Aside from sleeping a couple hours longer than usual, Seph treated this day any different than any other day. Or he would have if it weren't for the strange little clump of greenery he found floating over his head upon waking.

After trying and failing to grab it and throw it away he turned to wake Aria, who also had a small bunch of the stuff floating over her.

"Mmm, don't wanna get up yet," she grumbled at his attempts to rouse her without bothering to sit up.

He huffed and tried to get her up more insistently. Finally she turned over and looked at him. "What's...?" she trailed off when she spotted the mistletoe. "...Floating mistletoe."

"Indeed," he muttered. He'd seen mention of the stuff here and there but, hadn't really cared to remember what it looked like and hadn't bothered to find out what it was for. "The question is why it's there."

"Someone thought it would be fun for us to wake up to a silly 'kissing under the mistletoe' tradition for Christmas?" Then she yawned and turned back over. "It's not doing anything. Just go back to sleep."

He pouted and tugged at her shirt to get her attention again. "You're just going to ignore it?"

She sighed and sat up. "C'mere, maybe it'll go away if we go along with it," she said, wrapping her arms around his neck.

After a few seconds of kissing she looked up to see that the stuff was gone. "Nooow can I go back to sleep?" she whined teasingly.

He huffed again, she giggled and gave him another quick kiss before standing up. "C,mon, let's go get breakfast since I'm too awake to really go back to sleep."

And off to the kitchen they went.
I was tempted to have them get rid of it without even noticing it but, I felt the need to make Seph pout at least once. XD

The neighbors closest to Ari's apartment had been treated to quite a racket that morning. One may have thought it had just been the eccentric girls way of celebrating until they listened closely to what exactly was going on.

Ari paced her small living room, scowling at the walls and snapping off all the curses her crew had thought her over the year. Mistletoe. Why did it have to be Mistletoe?

Her scowl turned fiercer, determined to just set the stupid thing on fire and go back to bed. Eying it, she muttered the spell and watched in satisfaction as it quickly turned to ash. That was, until the ashes recombined and it slowly floated back up to eye level.

"FUCK-"
