Who: Amy, King Mickey, Roxas, and Sora
What: Checking out the Cornerstone of Light
Where: Timeless River
When: Sunday, August 1st, 2010

King Mickey waited patiently in the throne room for the others to arrive. Amy, Roxas, and Sora would all be here soon, and then they could get rid of the Heartless problem that had arisen in the Castle.

He frowned. It didn't make any sense, did it? The Cornerstone of Light was here to protect the world from Darkness, to prevent it from getting in and threatening those that lived here. For Heartless to appear meant that someone had snuck into the past and spread them around. But the entrance to the Hall of the Cornerstone was secure - permission to enter was only granted to a few, very trusted allies. It was almost impossible for someone to have gotten in.

But it's happened before, Mickey reminded himself, back when Xemnas was the threat and they knew what he wanted. Now... Now, the Prophecy was fulfilled, and they were at a loss, fighting an enemy without a face or a name. Who knew what that enemy could be capable of?

Mickey didn't care. He was the King here, and he wouldn't let them have his Castle, or anyone in it. This one world would be safe, a sanctuary for the denizens of Light. The Darkness didn't belong here, and he was going to do his best to banish it. All he had to do now was wait for the others, and they'd do it together.

Amy slipped into the throne room, only slightly nervous about the task ahead. She had thought she'd be up half the night worrying, but surprisingly enough, she'd slept like a rock. Even Eli fussing hadn't woken her. She almost suspected Jalen of drugging her, but it wasn't his style.

She caught sight of the King and grinned a bit. "Good morning Your Majesty."

Roxas arrived relatively early, entering just behind Amy. He wondered briefly just how she'd convinced Jalen to let her come along for this, but there was the distinct possibility that he was better off not knowing. On spotting the King, he raised a hand in a brief wave of a greeting. He had not slept well, having had a lot on his mind as of late.

Among other things, he had his own concerns about what they were about to do. They had no idea what might be waiting in there and even if three Keybearers were going to check on the situation, it might still be a rough. It was for that reason that his pockets were loaded mostly with potions, ethers, and a couple elixirs and he hoped his companions for this outing had made similar decisions about what they were bringing.

Sora raced into the room about fifteen minutes after Roxas and Amy had arrived. It wasn't that he had overslept - in fact, he had been awake for the past three hours - but truthfully, he hadn't even been on world when he had replied to the King's message a few days earlier. He had once again quietly slipped off without telling anyone(and shushing Donald and Goofy into sworn silence), going to aid a neighboring world from the Heartless that had suddenly popped up.

He skidded to a stop in front of the other three, scratching the back of his head as he gave them an apologetic smile.

"Sorry for keeping you guys. Are we ready?"

Meanwhile, Riku was already on Disney Castle - and had, in fact, overslept. It wasn't nearly as uncommon an occurrence for the boy as most would expect. Riku was a heavy sleeper, even on the worst of night.

Still, he didn't usually sleep this late. Not when there was something important to be done.

He arrived to the throne room moments after Sora, sprinting until he arrived at the door. Then, catching his breath, he opened the door and entered as if he hadn't been in a rush at all...though his poorly-brushed hair may have suggested differently. For a moment, he considered saying nothing, but thought better of it. He owed the group a short apology, at the very least.

"Sorry I'm late." he said, approaching the group.

"If it were at all possible, you two would be late for your own funerals." Roxas meant that in the nicest way possible, really, he did. However, he really had nothing to say otherwise, since the King had to open the way for them and they had no idea what they might be going into. Sure, Roxas knew what was in the Hall of the Cornerstone and what was through that door in there... but that was what worried him. About the only thing that could really threaten the Cornerstone was something getting to it in the past before the castle was built. It seemed strange that that other door should even be open, though. Hadn't Sora sealed the other door?

Amy's only reaction to Roxas' comment was a snicker. She was mostly focused on calming her nerves by checking over the contents of her bracelet of holding. Sword, slingshot, ammo for that...potions, ethers. Yep, all ready to go.

Following King Mickey down the steps, Sora could feel something was off the moment he took two steps down below the throne room. He didn't know why, but it made him uneasy and to finally see the faded light that surrounded the previously radiant Cornerstone put him on edge.

He approached the Cornerstone warily, reaching out a hand but pulling it back sharply before he could actually touch the darkness. Crossing his arms, he glanced back at the King. "And no one has seen anything suspicious? You think maybe it might have something to do with the timeline?"

"Well, as far as we know, the only way to really threaten the cornerstone now is to go back in time to before the castle was built," Roxas replied thoughtfully, "It makes sense." Still, he looked to the King for some confirmation. The Cornerstone was the King's responsibility, so he ought to know, right?
