Who: Emmy and Song
What: Emmy talks to Song about her concerns regarding Koios
Where: Disney Castle Courtyard
When: night of June 30th, after this post
Song waited for Emmy on a stone bench in the castle's courtyard. She didn't seem to be in much of a hurry for anything. In fact, she appeared to be making a flower chain. Hopefully whoever gardened this place wouldn't notice the absense of a few small blossoms....
Emmy wandered through the courtyard, finally finding Song on one of the benches creating what seemed to be a flower chain. "Hi Song!" The smile was an uncertain one, though she was glad to have been able to catch her dream-sister before her next trip. It had been a month now since things had started getting stranger. From Mr. Anonymous' first appearance and her discussion with Rak and the subsequent bursts of thought she'd had in the interim -- some of them more rash and uncharacteristically aggressive than others. But one thing in particular had struck her as odd from the beginning and it wasn't just the sense of deja vu she'd gotten from the situation. She paused taking a breath, "I have a theory about Mr. Anonymous Roxas Rescuer.. One thing in particular bothered me from the beginning... Or at least now that I've had way too much time to think, I'm worried."
Song tilted her head slightly at the writer's words. She was aware that some of the Refugees held suspicions about the stranger. She personally didn't know what to think. She fully acknowledged that he might not be on the level, but she had no specific evidence yet, and even if he did know a little more than he was letting on, it didn't mean he was necessarily their enemy. That's what this trip was really about, for her.
"What's your theory?"
"I found him suspicious originally on the premise that he simply found Roxas in a bad way -- a friend or foe border that reminded me of the incident involving Demyx and Cheryle. Later, I also found it strange that he said Roxas mentioned you. Your name isn't one I'd expect Roxas to drop. The realm of possibilities is endless, but I wonder if he could be Nothing. At the least, it would give an opening for you to be mentioned. However, the more I think on it, the more I second guess myself with contradictions about how that opening would even happen..."
That was something Song had not considered, and her eyes narrowed in a frown that was almost a grimace when Emmy got to the point.
"You mean that you think he's a Nobody, or something like it, because there is little else to connect me to Roxas and in turn to him?"
"To be perfectly honest, I don't know. But yes, It's an educated guess based on the minimal information we have."
She twisted one hand in her hair rather more aggressively than usual, tension and frustration clear in her voice, "We dont have enough information and we aren't getting it handed to us. I dont know what motivations anyone has. We still don't really have any answers. Maybe I'm just paranoid because I chose Rak to talk to before you all went on that Recovery mission." She sighed, looking away, "...I'm sorry. It's just... This frustrates me like a picturebook I had to study once where it might be one story, or maybe four, or maybe four intertwined to one. And i can't figure it out because right now, nothing makes sense."
Song shook her head and touched Emmy's shoulder briefly, bidding her to calm down.
"We're all frustrated. It's been like this for months. Hell, a year, technically, since things started going wrong again, and I'm not even counting Calum. I can't believe I'm saying this, but personally I hope this guy is a Nobody. Finally something that we understand, you know?"
Dreamwriter managed to crack small smile at that final comment, unraveling her hair from her fingers. "Oddly enough, it would be nice to be back to familiar tropes beyond the appearance of heartless and fallen worlds." She looked up at the sky, then back at Song, "Just be careful, dream-sister... I think I need to move at some point soon myself. I just need to figure out where. I guess, I'm back to where I was over two years ago -- too afraid to leave the lion's den, even though I have to. I need to figure out where my story goes from here, rather than wait for it."
Song shrugged, and proceeded to tie another flower onto herchain. "I don't know what to tell you. It's hard to make reliable long-term plans with things as they are now, so don't feel to bad if you don't figure it out any time soon."
She laughs, "You don't have to. So far the only thing I've figured out is that now here feels cage-y. I'd like to promise that I'll stay safe and pray that you will too, but I know we're practically playing poker with the multiverse these days and usually with poor hands. Instead, I'd like to wish you luck and light before you go. I... should probably go to bed soon, I haven't gotten much sleep since the party. Too many things going on in my head. I've been thinking too much."
Song nodded distractedly, apparently focused on her flower chain. In truth, Emmy's presence and her title for Song had stirred thoughts and memories that had been dorment.
Well, nothing for it now. It couldn't possibly provide more than useless conversation, but she might as well bring it up.
"Emmy, do you ever think about Orpheus anymore?"
"I do think about him. I might not have been as close to him as you were, but it's rare for me to be close to anyone and feel a kindred spirit. I guess... our odd kinship over dreams as a trio is precious to me because I hadn't felt that way since I was little. I've finished what I know of his story... through the Halloween Party, but... now that he's out of the frame, I don't have anything to write. So I wonder and hope, instead. The same way I did with my best friend as a child when circumstances drifted us apart."
There was a spark of curiosity in her eyes at the mention of the story. "Can I read what you've written, sometime? I might be able to add in a few things."
DreamWriter nodded, "Sure... But dream-sister, I need to go get sleep. Last thing I need or want is the Queen to repeat her lecture on sleeping habits again. Goodnight, Song. Dream well."
She grinned a little self-consciously and made a shooing motion with the hand not holding the flower chain. "Go dream, then. I'll let you know how the meeting goes when I get back, provided I don't lose my heart again or anything~"
"I will." Dreamwriter started to turn, then looked over her shoulder at that last comment, smiling, "I'd hope you wouldn't lose your heart that fast!"
"It depends on what he's offering, of course." She winked and waved her hand at emmy again, then went back to her flowers. "Now go away and let me infuriate the gardeners in peace."
Emmy headed back into the Castle smiling, leaving Song alone with her art.
