Mar. 4th, 2010 08:17 pmWho: Seph, Song
What: A chat about why Seph passed out
Where: Rainbow's End
When: The evening of March 4th
Status: Complete
Some of his memories had become fuzzy since the incident. Mostly those from before Sephiroth came in contact with the Refugees but, the ones from after he came back were clear. He had never actually been to Rainbow's End but, it wasn't hard to find. He paused for only a second before he knocked on the door.
Song was waiting for him. 'Her' corner of her favorite cough was nearest one of the front windows, and from there she could watch for visitors. She was at the door as soon as he knocked, and gave him a smile. Friendliness here seemed important.
"Come in. There's tea." She went back to the couch, taking one of two cups from the coffee table and sipping from it.
He followed her silently and sat down, taking one of the cups but, not drinking right away. Not in the mood to beat around the bush he started the conversation. "I assume you know something about the cause of that little incident."
"I take it you don't remember anything, then?" She'd been hoping, perhaps against hope, that he'd have some recollection of the other Seph's part in all this.
"From while I was unconscious?" He was faintly amused by the idea. "There is something, it would have been easily dismissed as just a normal dream but well, you are somehow involved."
She sipped her tea again, watching him only from the corners of her eyes. "I'll tell you what I remember. Cloud asked me for a dream and I obliged, of course. When it started, I saw him for about a second, and then I was surrounded by Darkness. I spent the whole time trying to get out. I couldn't end the dream. Then it did end, and Cloud told me that he'd fought you - er, your other self - and that he'd won. My only guess is that his Sephiroth wanted to keep me out of the way."
"That explains the dream. I think we were still slightly connected at the beginning. I only saw a bit." He sipped his tea. "I guess he's not a part of me anymore." It was a good thought but, he wasn't entirely sure it was true.
She nodded, looking thoughtful for a moment. Then she seemed to be trying and failing to suppress a smile of amusement. "The universe really needs to come up with some new ideas, Seph. At this rate, we'll get another Nobody Refugee next."
He smiled a bit too. "I think the alternative would have been rather unpleasant for a number of people."
"True enough." She continued to eye him, a hint of her smile remaining. "So then, what next? Even if there is some Darkness left in you, it can't be nearly as much. And everyone has a bit of personal Darkness. We're supposed to live with it. Then of course there's Cloud, who won't be happy to see your face, but may be somewhat satisfied with the results of his dream.... What are your thoughts?"
"I'm not sure what I'll do." He stared into his tea for a long moment. "Cloud will just have to deal with the fact that I look like him." Though he was slightly different since he passed out. Not that he took the time to look.
She'd noticed. It was why she'd been staring at him. Just one more reminder of Orpheus.
"What about your name?"
He wasn't expecting to have to think about his name just yet. "Aria has been calling me Seph since shortly after my dream dive." Probably not the best thing to say in his present company.
Whatever he might have expected, she brushed off the mention of Aria. "That's how I think of you. Seph is a good name. It sounds like Seth... or Set. An unusual Egyptian god." Yet again she smiled. Song was quick to smile these days. "I hope the nickname Sephy doesn't bother you terribly much."
"It's easier than adjusting to a completely different name." He scowled at the mention of the Sephy nickname.
She refrained from snickering at his scowl, tempting as it might have been. "Seph it is then, and hopefully it will stay that way. Is there anything else you want to discuss?"
"I believe we've discussed all that needs to be for now." He finished his tea but, didn't get up to leave.
"Good." She stood up, planning to open the door for him - again, that whole politeness thing seemed like a very good idea right now - but she paused and gave him a questioning look when he didn't move.
He noticed the look and stood. "It's nothing." He moved to the door and opening. "Thank you." And then he left.
She just smiled and shook her head as she watched him go. Maybe the universe did need to come up with something it hadn't done to them already, but this wasn't so bad. Not bad at all.
