The winter comes, the summer goes...
Oct. 9th, 2009 09:25 pmWho: Chase
What: Time comes and goes.
Where: The loft in Radiant Garden.
When: Friday night
Status: Complete
Chase moved through the small loft quietly, having let herself in some minutes earlier. It was quiet and very empty - he hadn't left much behind. She had come across a few books of sheet music earlier, notes written down in his scrawled handwriting. She wasn't sure if the music was for violin, guitar, or piano - even after knowing him forever, she couldn't make heads or tails of his handwriting. It didn't matter though - he was gone, with Lilith, to someplace unknown.
It didn't hurt as much as it did when he told her. And if she had been him, she didn't know if would have wanted to stay either. Even after that fight at world's end, he had admitted that there was something wrong, memories that he knew couldn't belong to him still echoing in his mind.
Calum was still there with him, maybe not as directly as before, but...
She had never been able to get a hold of him, like she had tried to when Song mentioned something worrying her about Calum's actions. His laptop had been destroyed those few months ago at the Coliseum, and his phone...well, knowing him, he had probably lost it somewhere. He wouldn't contact them unless he wanted to be found, and that made her grit her teeth. She'd pop him upside the head next time she saw him, damn it.
Chase sighed as she sat on the couch, starting to run her hand through her hair, but getting stopped by the wide-brim hat she wore (what was with Refugees and hats?). The others were off to save the Princesses, but Chase already knew that she could do her best work here in Radiant Garden with Cid. She wasn't a pushover in a fight, but the whole magical affairs were out of her league. And she was fine with that - she still had her whip and a mean right hook. That would do for her - she didn't want to be a big damn hero. She was quite happy playing a side role.
Still, she was a little lonely. She had made friends with people, some of her neighbors, a few of the Refugees, the Restoration Committee. But with one of her best friends gone, it just seemed a little quieter. A little less hectic...almost a little boring. Not that she wanted the world to be in grave danger every week (that would be godawful, and Sora couldn't be everywhere at once, poor kid), but a little excitement never hurt anyone.
She glanced around the loft again.
"You're going to tell her, right? You've got to tell her how you feel before you leave..."
"If she's happy, I'm happy. I'm not telling her a thing."
"I swear, guys are such idiots. YOU especially."
Chase smiled at the memory before getting to her feet and began assessing the room. It would be a bit of a change from her normal apartment, slightly bigger and more expensive, but she believed she could handle it. Besides, it had a nice view of the city. And someone would have to take care of it until he came back. She knew he would, one day.
But until then, she had to set out on her own to make things right for herself.
Things were looking brighter every day. And she was okay with that.
