Who: Roxas, Fox
What: Roxas ought to know to know better...
Where: From the Great Maw to... somewhere...
When: Noonish Wednesday, Aug. 26
Status: Complete
Notes: Why are the only logs that get finished either solo, muncest or done over AIM? As to this... just... totally random.
Roxas wasn't a hundred percent sure why he was out here, besides maybe the fact that he wanted some alone time and he needed some munny. He wasn't hunting monsters, though; he couldn't in his current form. He knew better. House cats were no match for most of the monsters hanging around here. What he was doing was checking places where there had been large monster battles. Anything the monsters might have had often got left behind in the larger battles. By now, any carcasses would have been picked clean or rotted away, leaving behind whatever they might have been carrying or had swallowed. Of course, undead enemies tended to fade to dust and slime enemies just melted when slain. Those were easy enough to collect valuables from and there was plenty to find. The tiny backpack someone had gotten him as a joke when they learned of his curse was getting some use and it was soon filled with munny. He decided he would count it later and set off back toward town in good spirits. Of course he was purring, not that he would admit that to anyone, but he was.
Unfortunately, getting back to town wasn't going to be so easy. He heard a flutter of wings accompanied by a snarling cackle and jumped to his left, barely dodging a swooping imp. It wasn't alone.
"Well fuck," he muttered under his breath as the imps circled. This was going to be fun...

The Thundara not far from where she was hunting was the first thing to catch Fox's attention. The soundtrack's sudden scare chord and the answering Blizzaga was accompanied by the shrieks of dying or frightened imps was the next thing. Imps were really only dangerous in large packs, but that also depended on the fighter. Concerned, Fox followed the sounds of the battle. The growled curses and cat hisses interspersed among the imps' cackles only made Fox worry more and she called out to the friend she knew those sounds belonged to.
"Roxas!"
He didn't reply... not to Fox anyway. He cast one last Blizzaga at the imps, killing all but two of the remaining six, and collapsed. Fox killed one of the two and the last one fled.
One tense moment with some tense music and a Curaga later and one very grumpy cat was riding in the unenchanted pocket of Fox's backpack, receiving a lecture as they went. The lecture was accompanied by a suitably chosen bit of music, but neither of them really noticed this fact.
"Honestly, what the hell were you thinking?" she asked, "I know your magic is good and it almost got you through that pack of imps, but--"
"But almost doesn't count," he interrupted, growling a little, "I know. I wasn't looking for a fight."
"What were you looking for?"
"Munny. Sometimes a lot of it gets left behind out here."
"Okay... why did you come out here alone?"
He didn't reply.
"Roxas."
"I didn't feel like dealing with anyone. And no, I don't know why?"
Fox sighed and grumbled under her breath, "I'm never having children..."
Roxas chuckled at that, "That might be wise. I'm not sure I want to know what sort of insanity that could lead to."
"Knowing my family, it wouldn't be good. But... seriously, couldn't you have picked a better place to go sulk? It wouldn't be an issue if not for this curse, but..." The soundtrack favored them with a sad trombone, causing both to sigh in exasperation.
"I think you're boned if this curse has some kind of leftover, Fox." He was snickering a little as he spoke.
"Don't remind me. And don't change the subject."
"Yes, Mom."
"Smart ass. Anyway, seriously. Just... be more careful, okay?"
He sighed, "I can try. And I could could say the same to you and the others. Honestly, some of the things you get into."
"Bastard." Though she was a little annoyed with his snark, there was only a bit of fondness in her voice.
Roxas only laughed at that, "But you love me anyway."
"In all your stubborn glory. Now wait until I drop you off by Kairi. You have some explaining to do, fuzzball." The soundtrack supplied the Super Mario lost life and game over jingle. Roxas didn't think that was so funny but Fox laughed all the way back to town.
