When: Friday night
Who: Mabry and Robin
What: sisterly chat
Mabry closed the laptop with a snap and pushed it out of the way. She smiled and shook her head, as she levered herself out of the chair at the breakfast table and waddled to the sink to fill the kettle. She wondered how many times the two of them had done this, since Songbird had first regained her heart. It seemed like it had happened pretty frequently.
Poor kid, she thought as she set the kettle on top of the stove. Things just never seemed to be easy for Robin. But then maybe that was how Robin needed for things to be. Mabry certainly never made things easy on herself, so why should her sister by choice do any differently.
All the tea things were already out. They were used often enough that they were kept on a particular corner of the counter. All Mabry had to do was select a pair of tea bags--Earl Grey for Robin and Ginger-Chamomile for herself. then she sat back down to wait for her sister to come downstairs and the kettle to start whistling.
