Who: Seph, Aria
What: A snippet of their conversation after THIS
Where: Traverse Town
When: Nov. 10th, around midnight
Status: Complete
Note/warning: Short with some sap.
"Sorry. I overreacted. I'll be home in a little while." Seph had gone home as soon as he read it.
It was a simple message. It should have been a reassuring one. But somehow it wasn't. Not entirely. She hadn't been gone all day over nothing after all.
He waited on the ugly couch they hadn't gotten around to destroying.
He hadn't moved when Aria came in almost an hour later. Neither of them said anything. Aria just sat down next to Seph and leaned on his side.
Seph only hesitated a moment before he put his arm around her. She was nervous about something. He hated it when she was nervous around him. He didn't know what he'd do if she'd become afraid of him.
A few moments later Aria started talking.
"I freaked out when you snapped at me this morning. I'm gonna tell you why just... don't say anything 'til I'm done." She paused. When she saw he wasn't going to interrupt she continued. "Lately I've been having a lot of nightmares involving him. And that's not really the exact reason I freaked." A deep breath. "I know you were probably just out of sorts from your nightmare and I was bothering you. I'm not mad or anything." Another deep breath. "The thing is... when you get really mad you... feel like him." Another pause as she looked up at him. "I just really didn't know if I should tell you and I didn't want to come back without knowing what I was gonna say."
Seph just sat there in a somewhat stunned silence. He felt like Sephiroth when he was angry? He wasn't sure he wanted to think about what that could mean.
"Seph?" Silence. "Seph?" More silence. "...It doesn't mean anything. You're not him. Not gonna become him."
"...I know," he muttered finally. "It's just been a bad week." He paused to rest his cheek on the top of her head.
She closed her eyes. "Are you mad at me for worrying you all day?" she asked quietly.
"No," he answered hesitantly.
"I don't want you to be scared to get mad at me," she said firmly.
"Alright," he sighed. "Let's go try to get some sleep." He was tired but, really he just did not want to talk about it anymore. Maybe he would later if they managed to get a decent amount of sleep.
"Okay." She reached up to stroke his hair. She knew he was changing the subject on purpose but, she was too tired to want to talk about it more herself. "We should probably talk about this more later though."
Neither of them moved for a long moment. Both were reluctant to move away from the other long enough to get ready for bed. They'd get there eventually.
