Fox got a growl for her troubles, and a swipe from his claws. If one took a second to analyze the situation here, they would notice that Fenrir was trying to herd them away from the Keybearers. He leapt and snapped and clawed at them all, never once considering that any of them might have a special weapon.
The Keybearer, on the other hand, was in the middle of a vicious barrage on King Mickey and Kairi alike. Both had drawn their Keyblades, and the King was trying to rally Kairi for a sneak attack whenever they got the chance. He wasn't planning on giving that to them - though if anyone else could get around Fenrir, the Keybearer was leaving his back open to them. He didn't believe they'd stand a chance against his wolf friend over there... but there is always an exception to the rule.
