Who: Amy and Song
What: Amy confesses that she's the true Mistress of All Evil! Just kidding.
Where: Rainbow's End, courtyard
When: The day before Josiah's return to Radiant Garden

Amy had been intending to talk to Song about her little...problem once they'd returned from Heatherfield, but had found any number of reasons to put it off. Eli needed his nap, Jalen needed a good whack for scaring her, they'd brought back more laundry than they'd left with...but finally it was edging on dusk, and if she was going to do it, she had to do it now. Any longer and she'd just keep the secret to herself, which would just please Awiergan to no end, she knew. Of course, she wasn't entirely sure that the cow wouldn't stop her from actually saying the words, but she had to try, right? So after a few minutes worth of searching, she finally found Song in the courtyard, enjoying the evening. Or, she hoped she was.
"Um...hey. How're things?"

Judging by Song's expression and the sharp way in which she lifted her head, Amy had caught her off guard. If she hadn't been standing upright, one might have thought she had dozed off.
"Amy," she stated, bringing herself back to reality. Her eyes traveled briefly up and down the woman's figure, searchingly. "What's up?"

"Nothing, I just-" She shook her head, clasping her hands and twisting her wedding ring around her finger. "Remember I said I needed to talk to you about something important? Well."
She stopped there, frowning, before looking up at the darkening sky. "You can keep a secret for me, right? How stupid, of course you can. I'm sorry I'm dragging this out, I'm just kinda...hell." Amy threw her hands up in defeat and looked back down, locking eyes with Song. "The thing with Medrau- we're in the same boat."

Song listened patiently, letting Amy ramble because it was exactly what she would have done if their positions were reversed. When the matter was finally out, though, her eyebrows rose sharply and then dropped into a frown. "You mean.... No, but... there isn't anyone else, is there? The only fakes were Medrau and Morgan. Or did I miss someone?"

"I wish you'd missed someone." Starting to fidget now, Amy turned away, staring at a nearby bush in the dimness.
"Jalen's little coma-thing...that was my fault. The picture you did of him, remember how the glass broke? That was me too." Amy laughed suddenly, but there wasn't any humor in it. "I kidnapped Eli. Except, you know, it wasn't me."

Barely taking her eyes off of Amy, Song moved the few steps to one of the benches and sat down, motioning vaguely with her hand in what could have been an invitation to join her.
"...So just like Medrau causes trouble while I'm unconscious, yours does the same? Is she one of Maleficent's too?"

"Her name's Awiergan~" Amy replied in a bitter singsong before moving to drop onto the bench next to Song. "You know what's hilarious about that name? It's Saxon for 'Cursed'. Jalen caught onto that really early, but he kept it to himself because- hell, I don't know. I don't think he suspected anything. Sure know I didn't. And yeah, she told him she's helping the old hag, so."

Something clicked in Song's mind. Whether it was her own wild guess or a memory of Medrau's leaking through, she couldn't say. "They've mentioned an academy, right? What if that's part of it? These weird... shadow-selves, or whatever you care to call them...." The rings on her necklace clinked together as her hand came up to fidget with it. "The question is, did Maleficent make them, or just win their allegiance?"

"Yeah...she's popped into my dreams a couple times since Jalen woke up, so she could gloat, threaten, crap like that. I don't think Maleficent made her at least. She was already there."
This was what she didn't want to talk about, admitting that she could do these things and hurt people. But there it was.
"...I'm scared to death I'll hurt Eli. I already- Jalen-" Biting her lip, Amy slipped her ring off and began to play with it. "I coulda killed him, you know. Or at the very least he never would have woken up. That was what she was going for, keeping him out of things, locked in his own head. She hates him so much..."

Song shook her head briskly. "You're looking at it the wrong way. She's not you, even if they are personifications of our own Darkness like they say. There is a difference. You won't hurt anyone. Someone else using your body against your will and knowledge might. That's why I haven't practiced any magic since I found out - don't want to give her a stronger weapon than she already has."

"Still feels like me," She muttered. "I don't think it matters whether or not I do any magic. She's already told me her's is stronger." Suddenly, Amy grinned a bit. "Bet I could still toast her ass, though."

Song gave a crooked smirk. "Yeah, except her ass is yours." Again she shook her head and then rubbed a hand over her face. "I don't know. Frankly the only reason I'm still here is because Mabry said I'd be stupid to go isolate myself somewhere. Still, I guess I understand why Josiah stays away - even though I still say he doesn't have a good excuse anymore." The last was muttered quietly, conspiratorially. She almost winked, but thought it a little too blatant and fake an attempt at lightening the mood.

"Bah. No leaving, I'll latch onto you and make a nuisance of myself." Slipping her ring back on, she grinned before reaching over to muss Song's hair.
"Possession! It's the 'In' thing these days. ...You think Josi'll faint when you tell him? Or just stare blankly? Jalen's knees gave out on him, but to this day he insists that he tripped."
Changing the subject and being weird, go.

Well at least the attempt had worked better than expected. She grinned slightly and tried to straighten her hair. "Frankly I think it's the lesser of two surprises. Oh, wait, did you mean possession or the other thing? Cuz the other thing's definitely scarier. One will send his brain into shut-down, the other he'll prob'ly just shrug at and tell me to be more careful."

The giggle escaped before she realized it, and she impulsively threw an arm around Song and hugged her. "The baby! And motherhood isn't that scary."
Okay, so that was a lie. "...All right, it's terrifying. But I'll be here, and Mabry, and even Eli'll help! Can you imagine him toddling around bringing you diapers and pacifiers?"

"I'm trying not to imagine any of it right now, Amy," she admitted in a tone both strained and humorous. "I'm sure I'll get more of it all than I want come November. Damn Medrau," she ranted, "I was supposed to finish my magic training before the brat comes!"

Wincing, she pulled her arm back. "Dunno what to tell you there." Amy looked around, a bit surprised that it was almost dark. "You want to come in and have some chocolate? Or maybe some tea, I brought some raspberry back from Gran's...turns out she did knit me booties, how silly..." Amy stood and began to fidget again. "At least they're in a pair of colors I like, purple and black. My maternal grandmother used to make me a set every year when I was a kid, usually in pea green and violet..." She trailed off and shrugged. "Sorry."

Song was barely listening. Her eyes were locked on the door hungrily, and had been since the word 'chocolate' had left Amy's lips. "Chocolate and Cheez-its, that's what I want. The only reason I'd support trade between Earth and Radiant Garden is for Cheez-its... I wonder what chocolate syrup on cheez-its would taste like? Is this a craving? Am I supposed to be having cravings yet?" She stood and caught hold of Amy's hand without looking, beginning to drag her towards the house.
Cheez-its or no Cheez-its, chocolate sounded like a fantastic distraction.
