is this what we deserve, can we break free
Who: Everyone
What: The Darkness has taken the Denizens of Light. How will they retaliate, having reached their destination?
Where: Alexandria
When: Sunday, June 12
Koios stood silently looking out of the window of Jagannatha's former quarters. He watched as their enemies rose from the Darkness that had pulled them in, stealing them away from their safe havens and bringing them here, where perhaps all of their worst fears would come true.
Alexandria's sky had turned black. The only things illuminating the false world anymore were a scant few lamps and candles... and the Hearts of the Allies of Light themselves. One had appeared with a fortress of Light, destroying many of the homes around them as Darkness threw her out of its arms. He watched, morbidly fascinated, as one by one, they rose into their cage.
Chernabog glowered down at them from above. He was a fine choice for the role of sentinel, boasting nearly as much power as the First Darkness himself. Koios, as well as the Heartless and Nobodies swarming about below, were nothing short of a safety measure - not that Jagannatha found it particularly necessary. In truth, it was more of a courtesy for the Nobody, a chance to properly boast to the losers, should he wish to take it. But for now, he remained where he was, observing the scene unfold impassively.
If Koios knew anything about the Key Bearers and Refugees, they wouldn't give up simply because they'd been trapped here, in Darkness, with no way discernible way out. No. That would only empower them. But the question remained: what would be their next step?
In any case, he thought, it would definitely prove to be a good show.
OOC: If you were not on the list of exceptions, you are now in Alexandria. Anyone who has any way of sensing the Hearts of others will know that any people native to this world have no Hearts, just as the world itself is lacking one. And yet, not a one of them is a Nobody.
All methods of transportation will fail.

He pulled away and reached his hand into the bluish-purple gem on the bracelet, rooting around. A few seconds later he'd drawn out two potions, which he set down beside them. A moment's thought and he was digging around again, finally grinning a bit as his hand closed around his sword. He withdrew it from the space, propping it carefully against the wall.
"Wish I'd remembered this was in here when they came for me. But Eli-"
Jalen shook his head, grabbing a potion to hold out to her. "Here."

"NeoShadow got me on the way to Aerith's," she answered weakly. "Leg's usable, might have a limp. Didn't notice. Dunno what it did to my back. Can't see it, y'know? But it hurts. A lot." Ray sighed, taking the potion and downing it in a few gulps. A shiver went down her spine as the claw marks started to mend, if not fully, but on their way to it. She rolled so that she was leaning against the wall on one arm, smiling at Jalen. "Small wonder Amy fell in love with you. You're a life-saver."
Now, they had to find Eli. Had to. He could be anywhere, with or without Amy or anyone to keep him safe. She started pushing herself to her feet, pausing now and then when the world started spinning. It really was a shame Ray had never gotten a lance or staff or something. They could have been mighty useful right about now. "We can't just sit around if grasshopper's lost somewhere," she said. "Maybe someone's found him already. I heard other people moving around here somewhere." Or were those just Heartless? "Maybe he's already safe. Can't take the chance, though. Amy'd kill us both."

"I didn't see him anywhere when I was dumped. He'd be crying, someone would've-" Halting that train of thought, Jalen shook his head and gave Ray a once over. "You know what a pack rat my wife is, maybe there's something in here you can lean on...I'm still a little surprised by the directions her mind goes sometimes when she's packing."
He passed the sword to Ray to act as a makeshift cane while he dug around in the bracelet again. He wasn't really expecting to find a staff, but maybe a stick...it was just silly enough to actually be there. Instead, his fingertips brushed metal; a very familiar-feeling metal. His eyes widened, and he closed his hand around the round object, slowly drawing it out.
"No...what's this doing here? She wouldn't have-"
Jalen opened his hand to stare down at the bronze compass, heart thudding dully. He flashed back to the Darkness sweeping over Eli; it hadn't been the same as the others. Not the same as his. Almost as if...
It had been a shield.
"It was a trick," He said hoarsely. "He's not here at all. He's with her."

...Except that it kinda did. Nothing could really prepare you for seeing a tough old swordsman up to his elbow in a little girly bracelet. Ray almost giggled at the absurdity of it, but then he pulled out something eerily familiar. A compass - the very compass she'd given Eli on his birthday. Worry, and possibly a bit of panic, bubbled up within her almost immediately, but faded into confusion almost as quickly.
"Jalen," she began slowly, dreading the answer, "what was a trick? Where is Eli? Who's he with?"

"Ray."
He wished there was an easy way to say it. He also wished he could be confident in telling her that Eli was all right, but he didn't know that. Not for sure. Just because he hadn't been harmed yet didn't mean-
"When the Darkness came for Eli, it wasn't the same. It didn't pull him down; it covered him, like a shield. He's with Awiergan. He's with his mother."

The one who kidnapped Eli. The one who'd evidently wiped Amy's memory from that entire time.
Wasn't that kind of what Medrau had done to Song?
God, my head hurts.
"She... is she like... Medrau, and Song? Her Dark side, and all that?" Why wouldn't Amy have told her something like this? It wasn't as if... It wasn't like she couldn't trust Ray! Confusion and frustration was written all over her face, and she leaned herself against the wall once more. "But that would mean... That would mean they're not here. That grasshopper isn't safe...
"That would explain why the compass is in there, then, wouldn't it? So that she... Awiergan... could actually get to him, and keep him away from us?" She shook her head with quickly growing impatience. "We've got to get out of here."
no subject
Jalen pushed the compass into a pocket instead of the bracelet. He needed to feel it nearby right now.
"I didn't- neither of us knew until my 'accident'. Awiergan was kind enough to tell me everything she's been doing, no doubt thinking she'd be able to keep me locked away. I told Amy when I woke up. She didn't take it well."
He almost laughed then. 'Didn't take it well' was an understatement. She'd just stared at him, speechless, for almost a whole minute, which had scared him. Then she'd burst into tears. Nothing he'd said had calmed her...until finally she'd stopped crying as if a switch had been thrown, and had changed the subject on him.
"I don't think she'll hurt him." The more he thought about it, the less likely it seemed to him that Awiergan would cause Eli harm, but he couldn't explain it. Maybe he just wanted to believe that his wife was strong enough to stop her if it came to that.
"Can you open a corridor?"

When they got out of here, she and Awiergan were going to have a little talk.
She shook her head. Thinking like that wouldn't get them anywhere. And Jalen had followed her train of thought right to a good point. "I don't know. Haven't really tried," she admitted guiltily. Her eyes slipped shut as she called on the bracelet's magic. It didn't suddenly flood with warmth as it usually did, however, and no portal appeared. Not even a speck of Light flickered.
"...I guess I can't." Frustration continued to well up inside of her. "Our best bet is probably just gonna be to find the other Refugees. I'm sure someone will find us a way out. But it won't be me. I'm sorry, Jalen."

"Not your fault." He gestured to his sword as he stood up straight. "Want to take a chance that we won't run into anything while you use that as a cane, or do you want the other potion?"
Get Ray moving well, find the others, go home. It was a good plan for him.

Touching the compass in his pocket briefly, he set off after her.
