[18:23] garnetcloud2: Amy took one last look at the decorations in the dining room and grinned to herself. Blue and green streamers hung from the ceiling, crisscrossing the room, and bunches of matching balloons were tucked away into the corners. She'd thrown a paper tablecloth (covered in a cartoon-like bug print, what else?) over the table before setting out all of Eli's gifts. Well, the gifts that she and his father had gotten him, anyway. She wasn't too sure when Mabry was planning to add her's, and the others hadn't arrived yet. Not that it mattered, she'd told them no presents anyway. Or at least suggested it.
[18:23] garnetcloud2: "Can I bring him in now?" Jalen stuck his head around the doorway before stepping in fully, Eli in his arms. The little boy laughed and immediately reached out for his mother. Amy's grin grew wider as she went over to take him. "Happy Birthday Ladybug!"
[18:25] belegwen14: Mabry snickered at Eli's nickname as she positioned the present from herself, Brendan, and Ashlyn on the table. It was large and wrapped in silver wrapping paper. She was pretty proud of it, in fact. Wrapping it had been a trial though, since Ashlyn had been determined to "help."

[18:31] Medrau May: Medrau had been lurking just outside the dining room for a while now, a restless kitten in her arms. Her last-minute present was already on the table, a small box rapped in blue. Really, she'd never picked out a gift for a one-year-old before. She hoped the kid and his parents would like it.
[18:34] garnetcloud2: Amy cuddled Eli as he reached out for Meddie's cat, then laughed. "No baby, presents, not kitty. You can scare the poor thing later." She moved over to the table and picked up an awkwardly wrapped gift that looked suspiciously like a wooden sword. Giving her husband a Look, she waved it slightly before handing it to Eli, who simply stuck one end in his mouth and drooled on it. "So, should we bring the cake out while we unwrap these, or do it later?"
[18:36] Seo Sciathan: "Custom says we should do it later, but we can multitask, right?" Ray grinned over at the two of them. "Besides, I want to see how well you caught the splendor of Yen Sid's hat."
[18:36] belegwen14: "Traditionally presents are unwrapped after cake . . . but last I saw, Brendan was still trying to get the ice cream out of the deep freeze, so we may as well buy time by opening presents."

[18:47] Medrau May: The cat stretched after Eli's hand when he was pulled away, then got distracted by Meddy's hair. For her part, Meddy was doing the Newcomer Lurk against a wall and keeping her thoughts to herself.
[18:48] Seo Sciathan: Ray shrugged. "Can't have cake without ice cream. Presents it is!"
[18:53] Fox the Kitsune: Roxas felt very out of place and so was keeping to himself a bit. He hadn't gotten a gift, being kind of broke, and was starting to wonder why exactly he'd come... besides the fact that someone had suggested it on his post the night before.
[18:55] belegwen14: (More kid. Such an awkward age.)
[18:57] garnetcloud2: "Here...gimme that." Amy took the wrapped sword away from her son and set it back on the table before reaching for the little blue box. She paused as she caught sight of Roxas and grinned, lifting one of Eli's little arms in a wave. "Hiya uncle Roxas!" Giggling, she picked up the gift and gave it to Eli, helping to open it with one hand.
[19:00] belegwen14: (Trading turns with Meddy so she can describe the gift.)
[19:02] Medrau May: Inside the box from Meddy (once the awkward team of mom and baby had fought off the stubborn paper and cardboard) was a small snowglobe set on a plain silver base, holding inside of it a miniscule castle. "It's not glass," Medrau mumbled from her corner. "I don't think he'll break it."
[19:04] belegwen14: (Allowing chance for Amy/Eli reaction before taking my turn.)
[19:05] garnetcloud2: ((okie))
[19:07] garnetcloud2: "Awe, it's so cute! Isn't it, my Ladybug?" She smiled, gently shaking the globe in front of him. Eli reached out, babbling, and tried to close his chubby fingers around the sphere. "Thanks Meddie, I know right where this'll go in his room."
[19:08] belegwen14: Mabry pushed the large silver box on the table closer. "Go on and open this now. Then I'll go help Brendan with the ice cream."
[19:10] Seo Sciathan: "That's pretty, Med," she commented, leaning in for a better look.
[19:17] Fox the Kitsune: (.__. You can skip me...)
[19:18] garnetcloud2: (okay *pat*)
[19:19] Fox the Kitsune: (Re: Coded kind of has my brain <.<)
[19:24] garnetcloud2: "Um...okay, big box...Warrior Tuna, come hold your kid, I need two hands for this." Jalen's face screwed up into something between a glare and a frown before he retrieved his babbling son and balanced him on his hip. Eli's eyes followed the globe as he took it away and set it down, but he didn't whine, simply laughed. Amy pulled the wrapping off and laughed in surprise. "Oh no, we're definitely starting the bug love early." She held up the ant farm for the others to see. "Thanks Mabry."
[19:25] belegwen14: Mabry grinned. "I figured he'd like it." As she spoke, she slipped out the door. "I will return with the ice cream or on it . . . that made no sense . . ." She mumbled to herself as she left.
[19:27] Medrau May: Meddy grinned at Ray's compliment and put Bugs down so he could chase wrapping paper. "Maybe I should've found a snowglobe with an insect in it instead."
[19:30] Seo Sciathan: "How much you wanna bet that thing's gonna get knocked over by this time next week?" she asked with a laugh. "I'll put down 100 munny on it, for Eli."
[19:38] garnetcloud2: "I'm just putting everything on a shelf until he's ten. Okay, maybe he can play with things sooner. He seems to mostly take after his father in the not-breaking-everything kind of way." Amy picked up the small box from Ray, shaking it slightly before glancing at her friend with raised eyebrows. "Kinda heavy for a shrimp." Ripping the paper off, she opened the box and simply stared for a few seconds. "Oh Ray...is this what I think it is?" She pulled the round bronze object out and opened the dragonfly-engraved lid. "A compass, this is brilliant. He'll get tons of use out of this. And..." She chewed on her lip for a second, weighing it in her hand. "Is there a spell on this? It tingles a little. In a good way, though."

[19:42] Medrau May: (me too)
[19:43] Seo Sciathan: "Two, actually," Ray said with a smile. "It's from Master Yen Sid, too. He enchanted it so that Eli would always be able to find his way home, and it's got Light in it, too, to help protect him from Darkness. It, uh... It might be a little much for a one-year-old, but hey." She shrugged.
[19:43] belegwen14: (Smart present.)
[19:48] garnetcloud2: "It really is brilliant. Will you thank him for us?" Amy held the compass up to Eli before handing it to Jalen. "Don't let him chew on it." "Yes, because the tiny teeth he has coming in can cut through metal. Dangerous child, this one." Amy stuck her tongue out at him before calling out to Mabry. "Hey, where's that cake? This kid has a birthday to celebrate!"
[19:52] belegwen14: Mabry's laughter could be heard from the kitchen. "Just a minute, Amy! I'm looking for the candles!"
[19:55] Medrau May: A small squeak came from Medrau's corner as her cat darted out from under the table and made a leap for Jalen - or specifically, for the shiny compass Jalen was now holding.
[19:55] Seo Sciathan: Ray couldn't help but crack up a little. "Cat likes shiny things, eh?"
[19:59] garnetcloud2: Jalen staggered back, managing to hold on both compass and baby, then realized that the cat had snagged onto his sleeve and was dangling while making pitiful mewling sounds. "...Help?" Rolling her eyes, Amy gently detached the cat and cuddled him before giving him back to Meddie. "Remind me to give him some tuna later as a treat for that."
[20:02] lefthandedsidhe: has joined the chat
[20:02] belegwen14: Mabry and Brendan re-entered the room. Brendan's arms were full of several containers of ice cream, and Mabry carried the enormous and beautiful cake.
[20:02] lefthandedsidhe: Don't panic. Maleficent is not actually present in the room at this time.
[20:04] lefthandedsidhe: However, she is watching. Anyone who is sensitive to dark magic would have brief feeling, like a tingle going down their spines.
[20:05] Medrau May: Meddy took the kitten back, almost choking on laughter. "Sorry about that. Guess he does," she said in reference to Ray's comment.
[20:08] Seo Sciathan: "Ah, finally," Ray said, stretching. A shiver shook through her as she rose from her chair, but she brushed the feeling off. They'd just gotten the ice cream out of the freezer, after all. "Cake and ice cream! That's always the best part of a birthday party."
[20:15] garnetcloud2: "Tell me about it." Smiling widely, she took Eli from Jalen and cuddled him silly before turning him to face the cake. First birthdays only come once, and this one was the best, in her opinion. "Look sweetie, cake! Can you say cake?" Eli clapped his hands and reached out towards the candles. "Kay!" Laughing, she moved him away from the table a bit before gesturing to Jalen to light the candles.
[20:24] lefthandedsidhe: As the small boy was lifted in his mother's arms and held to blow out the candle of that first precious birthday cake, the moment came. The form ceased to move. The flesh and blood that moments before had squirmed in Amy's arms returned to its nature. There was only a bundle of twigs tied together in the shape of a child.
[20:24] belegwen14: Mabry's eyes widened in shock and she dropped the cake.
[20:26] Medrau May: Meddy in turn dropped the cat, backing as far as she could against the wall and blinking in confusion.
[20:28] Seo Sciathan: Ray stared at the twigs in stunned silence, a million thoughts racing through her head as she felt Thunder rolling in her veins. "Amy," she asked quietly after a moment, still staring, "what happened while you two were gone?"
[20:29] Fox the Kitsune: Fox, being a wallflower until now, was no less startled than anyone else.
[20:33] garnetcloud2: Amy didn't even hear Ray's question. She was staring in absolute shock at the bundle of sticks, her heart pounding wildly. Eli- Where was Eli? What was this- Turning, she wordlessly held the figure out to Jalen before dropping to her knees and sobbing, clutching the sticks to her chest. He was next to her in an instant, trying to calm her down and get her to stand at the same time. He wasn't having much luck.
[20:35] lefthandedsidhe: Mabry reached out to the two of them in uncertainty, but could not think of anything to say or do.
[20:39] Medrau May: Meddy was getting herself into a confused jumble trying to extract the nervous kitten from under the table again while being thoroughly distracted herself by, well, the obvious. She supposed she should say something - like "what the hell was that?" - but she couldn't the words out.
[20:42] Seo Sciathan: Ray watched them for a moment before going to kneel beside Amy. "We'll find him. I promise you, we will." It was all she could think to say, even if she had no idea where to start looking.
[20:44] Shingumisaturn: has joined the chat

[20:45] Medrau May: (party's already crashed, I'd say)

[20:46] garnetcloud2: Pulling away from both Ray and Jalen, Amy got to her feet, her breath still coming in hitching gasps. She turned the figure over in her hands as if studying it, then tossed it away from her, watching as it burst into flame. "Where- is my son? Where?!"
[20:46] belegwen14: (Should Ari get her turn here as she enters the room to this bizarre scene?)
[20:47] Fox the Kitsune: (sounds fun)
[20:47] garnetcloud2: (sure ^^)
[20:52] Shingumisaturn: At that moment, the front door, not-so-gently crashed open and a rather cheerfully whistling Ari stepped in, holding a box in her hands. She paused, an eyebrow raising as she surveyed the scene. "....What the fuck."
[20:54] belegwen14: Mabry turned to Ari, her face pale. "Eli . . . turned into a bunch of sticks."
[20:55] Medrau May: Meddy gave up wrestling with the cat and stood back in her corner with her arms folded tight across her chest. "Is this n-normal for you guys?"
[20:57] Seo Sciathan: "This? Hardly. Kidnapping? Mainstream," Ray muttered darkly. Her eyes scanned the corners of the room carefully. Despite the fire, she still felt a chill, and that meant one thing...
[21:07] garnetcloud2: "Someone's gonna die for this." It was said very quietly, but there was still determination behind it. "I'm gonna fucking kill whoever did this." Amy laughed suddenly, then gestured at the fire. A layer of frost covered it, leaving a pile of steaming wood. She turned to look at the shocked faces of her friends, smiling. "Thanks for all the presents, guys. I'm sure 'Eli' appreciated them." She giggled, heading for the doorway. "See you guys later, I've gotta go."
[21:07] garnetcloud2: Jalen grabbed her arm before she got more than a step out of the room. "Yes, you're going, but upstairs. I'll go out. Not you." Amy yanked her arm free, glared at her husband, and stormed out of the room.
[21:08] lefthandedsidhe: Where the frost had replaced fire on the dead twigs, a new light appeared, this one glowing a sickly green.
[21:11] Medrau May: Meddy seemed to be at a total loss, wide eyes flitting around the room at random. After Amy had stormed out, she started edging along the wall towards the nearest exit herself. This didn't seem like the safest spot to be in just now.
[21:12] Seo Sciathan: ((/waits for Ari to tag))
[21:12] Medrau May: ((whoops, sorry))
[21:12] Shingumisaturn: Ari said nothing as she put down her package, a second eyebrow joinng the first temporarily at the explaination. It was probably a bad idea to laugh at that, so she said nothing outside of. "Kidnapped. Been there, done that, nearly drowned."she muttered, and settled into a nearby corner.
[21:13] Shingumisaturn: (totes fine)
[21:15] Seo Sciathan: Her eyes flitted back to the twigs as they started burning once more, fists clenching. "You have got to be shitting me." Well, at least they knew where to look now.
[21:21] garnetcloud2: Jalen's gaze followed Ray's, and he tensed. Of course. He was torn between going after his wife, and waiting here to see if anything else happened. He was almost sure that Amy wouldn't leave on her own. Almost.
[21:21] lefthandedsidhe: The green flame grew until Maleficent appeared standing in the center of the room. Her cold laughter rang out.
[21:22] belegwen14: Mabry stared at the dark fairy in shock. "You . . . you aren't supposed to be here inside the wards!"
[21:25] Medrau May: Meddy froze part-way to the nearest door, her eyes somehow widening even further. "Is that who I think it is...?"
[21:26] belegwen14: (BTW, Meddy, in case no one has told you, I play Maleficent.)
[21:26] Medrau May: (I kind of noticed)
[21:29] Shingumisaturn: Ari let out a few choice words, borrowing phrases from her crew. "Well, shit" She glanced at Meddy, almost giving a wry smile. "I think this almost deserves a 'welcome to our life'" She commented offhanded while casually slipped her fans out of their belt.
[21:31] Seo Sciathan: "You bitch, what did you with him?" Ray demanded immediately, lightning at her fingertips. "Where's Eli?"
[21:35] garnetcloud2: Jalen wanted to know the same thing, and found himself wishing he'd actually brought his sword to this party. Of course, he should have known better, but seeing as how it was a birthday party for a child... Perhaps learning magic wouldn't be such a bad idea after all.

[21:53] garnetcloud2: Jalen was just about to ask the witch what, exactly, she wanted his son for when Amy walked back into the room. She looked calmer than she had when she left, but that changed as she spotted Maleficent. She froze for a moment before grabbing the compass off the table and pulling her arm back to throw it. "You can't." He caught her arm and took the compass from her while she glared daggers at Maleficent. "Bite me." Amy pulled her arm free and started towards the faerie. "What the fuck did you do with my baby?"
[21:55] lefthandedsidhe: "My dear child, the question is less of what I did to your baby as it is of what is to become of him now." Maleficent took a slow step towards Amy, her black robe trailing along the floor.
[21:59] Medrau May: (oh, still skipping. Keep going))
[22:01] Shingumisaturn: Ari scowled, not at all liking where this was most likely headed but kept silent, not needing to snark and get herself in trouble neutral grounds or not.

[22:06] garnetcloud2: She stared at her as she approached, fists clenched. I should roast her, I really should. Just light her up. She shook her head before taking a breath, trying not to let her emotions get the best of her. But that was a laugh, wasn't it? Her baby was stolen, replaced with a pack of twigs, for god's sake, she was allowed to be hysterical and destroy things. Especially the person behind it all. "If you don't get to the point, I'm going to fry you."
[22:09] lefthandedsidhe: "You would try," Maleficent corrected her. "But that is of no matter. I have not harmed a hair on your son's precious little head. I will even give you a chance to recover him . . . you do want him back, don't you? I would certainly be happy to keep him. My own son is, sadly, beyond my reach."

[22:14] Medrau May: Medrau had remained frozen throughout the exchange as if entranced by the faerie's presence. At some point her wayward kitten had slipped back to her and she'd picked him up without taking her eyes off Maleficent. Finally she got a few strangled words out - "I think you should listen to her.... Is she the kind of faerie who sticks to her word?" Apparently she wasn't up to asking Maleficent this directly.

[22:23] lefthandedsidhe: A smug smile hung on Maleficent's face. "You have thirteen days to find your son, or he will be lost to you forever."

[22:25] Shingumisaturn: "...Well crap." Ari, being the ever helpful one muttered.
[22:26] Seo Sciathan: "What, no clues? Not even a mislead? But you were so courteous last time..."
[22:30] garnetcloud2: "Thirteen....days..." Amy couldn't even make a smart ass comment about Maleficent being so uncreative that she had to leech off a movie with goblins and David Bowie in spandex. She just stared for a moment, fighting down the urge to burst into tears again. She could do this, she could deal...She felt Jalen's arms tighten around her, and she spoke again. "Ray's right. Don't we get any helpful hints?" And what exactly happens to him if we lose? She wanted to say, but the words wouldn't come out.
[22:32] Shingumisaturn: (If Eli is the babe with the power, I am going to laugh)

Should you fail to find him, he will be beyond your reach for fifteen years, when another shall have a chance to save him, but that one will not be you, and she will take him away from you as surely as I have."

Amy really couldn't think of anything else to say that wasn't either sarcastic or a swear word, so she bit her lip and chose to stay silent. She tugged herself free from Jalen and grabbed the compass back before slipping out of the room.

Blue and green streamers hung from the ceiling, crisscrossing the room, and bunches of matching balloons were tucked away into the corners. She'd thrown a paper tablecloth (covered in a cartoon-like bug print, what else?) over the table before setting out all of Eli's gifts. Well, the gifts that she and his father had gotten him, anyway. She wasn't too sure when Mabry was planning to add her's, and the others hadn't arrived yet. Not that it mattered, she'd told them no presents anyway. Or at least suggested it.
[18:23] garnetcloud2: "Can I bring him in now?" Jalen stuck his head around the doorway before stepping in fully, Eli in his arms. The little boy laughed and immediately reached out for his mother. Amy's grin grew wider as she went over to take him. "Happy Birthday Ladybug!"
[18:25] belegwen14: Mabry snickered at Eli's nickname as she positioned the present from herself, Brendan, and Ashlyn on the table. It was large and wrapped in silver wrapping paper. She was pretty proud of it, in fact. Wrapping it had been a trial though, since Ashlyn had been determined to "help."

Really, she'd never picked out a gift for a one-year-old before. She hoped the kid and his parents would like it.
[18:34] garnetcloud2: Amy cuddled Eli as he reached out for Meddie's cat, then laughed. "No baby, presents, not kitty. You can scare the poor thing later." She moved over to the table and picked up an awkwardly wrapped gift that looked suspiciously like a wooden sword. Giving her husband a Look, she waved it slightly before handing it to Eli, who simply stuck one end in his mouth and drooled on it. "So, should we bring the cake out while we unwrap these, or do it later?"
[18:36] Seo Sciathan: "Custom says we should do it later, but we can multitask, right?" Ray grinned over at the two of them. "Besides, I want to see how well you caught the splendor of Yen Sid's hat."
[18:36] belegwen14: "Traditionally presents are unwrapped after cake . . . but last I saw, Brendan was still trying to get the ice cream out of the deep freeze, so we may as well buy time by opening presents."

[18:47] Medrau May: The cat stretched after Eli's hand when he was pulled away, then got distracted by Meddy's hair. For her part, Meddy was doing the Newcomer Lurk against a wall and keeping her thoughts to herself.
[18:48] Seo Sciathan: Ray shrugged. "Can't have cake without ice cream. Presents it is!"
[18:53] Fox the Kitsune: Roxas felt very out of place and so was keeping to himself a bit. He hadn't gotten a gift, being kind of broke, and was starting to wonder why exactly he'd come... besides the fact that someone had suggested it on his post the night before.

[18:57] garnetcloud2: "Here...gimme that." Amy took the wrapped sword away from her son and set it back on the table before reaching for the little blue box. She paused as she caught sight of Roxas and grinned, lifting one of Eli's little arms in a wave. "Hiya uncle Roxas!" Giggling, she picked up the gift and gave it to Eli, helping to open it with one hand.

[19:02] Medrau May: Inside the box from Meddy (once the awkward team of mom and baby had fought off the stubborn paper and cardboard) was a small snowglobe set on a plain silver base, holding inside of it a miniscule castle. "It's not glass," Medrau mumbled from her corner. "I don't think he'll break it."

[19:07] garnetcloud2: "Awe, it's so cute! Isn't it, my Ladybug?" She smiled, gently shaking the globe in front of him. Eli reached out, babbling, and tried to close his chubby fingers around the sphere. "Thanks Meddie, I know right where this'll go in his room."
[19:08] belegwen14: Mabry pushed the large silver box on the table closer. "Go on and open this now. Then I'll go help Brendan with the ice cream."
[19:10] Seo Sciathan: "That's pretty, Med," she commented, leaning in for a better look.

Jalen's face screwed up into something between a glare and a frown before he retrieved his babbling son and balanced him on his hip. Eli's eyes followed the globe as he took it away and set it down, but he didn't whine, simply laughed. Amy pulled the wrapping off and laughed in surprise. "Oh no, we're definitely starting the bug love early." She held up the ant farm for the others to see. "Thanks Mabry."
[19:25] belegwen14: Mabry grinned. "I figured he'd like it." As she spoke, she slipped out the door. "I will return with the ice cream or on it . . . that made no sense . . ." She mumbled to herself as she left.
[19:27] Medrau May: Meddy grinned at Ray's compliment and put Bugs down so he could chase wrapping paper. "Maybe I should've found a snowglobe with an insect in it instead."
[19:30] Seo Sciathan: "How much you wanna bet that thing's gonna get knocked over by this time next week?" she asked with a laugh. "I'll put down 100 munny on it, for Eli."
[19:38] garnetcloud2: "I'm just putting everything on a shelf until he's ten. Okay, maybe he can play with things sooner. He seems to mostly take after his father in the not-breaking-everything kind of way." Amy picked up the small box from Ray, shaking it slightly before glancing at her friend with raised eyebrows. "Kinda heavy for a shrimp." Ripping the paper off, she opened the box and simply stared for a few seconds. "Oh Ray...is this what I think it is?" She pulled the round bronze object out and opened the dragonfly-engraved lid. "A compass, this is brilliant. He'll get tons of use out of this. And..." She chewed on her lip for a second, weighing it in her hand. "Is there a spell on this? It tingles a little. In a good way, though."

[19:43] Seo Sciathan: "Two, actually," Ray said with a smile. "It's from Master Yen Sid, too. He enchanted it so that Eli would always be able to find his way home, and it's got Light in it, too, to help protect him from Darkness. It, uh... It might be a little much for a one-year-old, but hey." She shrugged.

[19:48] garnetcloud2: "It really is brilliant. Will you thank him for us?" Amy held the compass up to Eli before handing it to Jalen. "Don't let him chew on it." "Yes, because the tiny teeth he has coming in can cut through metal. Dangerous child, this one." Amy stuck her tongue out at him before calling out to Mabry. "Hey, where's that cake? This kid has a birthday to celebrate!"
[19:52] belegwen14: Mabry's laughter could be heard from the kitchen. "Just a minute, Amy! I'm looking for the candles!"
[19:55] Medrau May: A small squeak came from Medrau's corner as her cat darted out from under the table and made a leap for Jalen - or specifically, for the shiny compass Jalen was now holding.
[19:55] Seo Sciathan: Ray couldn't help but crack up a little. "Cat likes shiny things, eh?"
[19:59] garnetcloud2: Jalen staggered back, managing to hold on both compass and baby, then realized that the cat had snagged onto his sleeve and was dangling while making pitiful mewling sounds. "...Help?" Rolling her eyes, Amy gently detached the cat and cuddled him before giving him back to Meddie. "Remind me to give him some tuna later as a treat for that."

[20:02] belegwen14: Mabry and Brendan re-entered the room. Brendan's arms were full of several containers of ice cream, and Mabry carried the enormous and beautiful cake.

[20:04] lefthandedsidhe: However, she is watching. Anyone who is sensitive to dark magic would have brief feeling, like a tingle going down their spines.
[20:05] Medrau May: Meddy took the kitten back, almost choking on laughter. "Sorry about that. Guess he does," she said in reference to Ray's comment.
[20:08] Seo Sciathan: "Ah, finally," Ray said, stretching. A shiver shook through her as she rose from her chair, but she brushed the feeling off. They'd just gotten the ice cream out of the freezer, after all. "Cake and ice cream! That's always the best part of a birthday party."
[20:15] garnetcloud2: "Tell me about it." Smiling widely, she took Eli from Jalen and cuddled him silly before turning him to face the cake. First birthdays only come once, and this one was the best, in her opinion. "Look sweetie, cake! Can you say cake?" Eli clapped his hands and reached out towards the candles. "Kay!" Laughing, she moved him away from the table a bit before gesturing to Jalen to light the candles.
[20:24] lefthandedsidhe: As the small boy was lifted in his mother's arms and held to blow out the candle of that first precious birthday cake, the moment came. The form ceased to move. The flesh and blood that moments before had squirmed in Amy's arms returned to its nature. There was only a bundle of twigs tied together in the shape of a child.
[20:24] belegwen14: Mabry's eyes widened in shock and she dropped the cake.
[20:26] Medrau May: Meddy in turn dropped the cat, backing as far as she could against the wall and blinking in confusion.
[20:28] Seo Sciathan: Ray stared at the twigs in stunned silence, a million thoughts racing through her head as she felt Thunder rolling in her veins. "Amy," she asked quietly after a moment, still staring, "what happened while you two were gone?"
[20:29] Fox the Kitsune: Fox, being a wallflower until now, was no less startled than anyone else.
[20:33] garnetcloud2: Amy didn't even hear Ray's question. She was staring in absolute shock at the bundle of sticks, her heart pounding wildly. Eli- Where was Eli? What was this- Turning, she wordlessly held the figure out to Jalen before dropping to her knees and sobbing, clutching the sticks to her chest. He was next to her in an instant, trying to calm her down and get her to stand at the same time. He wasn't having much luck.
[20:35] lefthandedsidhe: Mabry reached out to the two of them in uncertainty, but could not think of anything to say or do.
[20:39] Medrau May: Meddy was getting herself into a confused jumble trying to extract the nervous kitten from under the table again while being thoroughly distracted herself by, well, the obvious. She supposed she should say something - like "what the hell was that?" - but she couldn't the words out.
[20:42] Seo Sciathan: Ray watched them for a moment before going to kneel beside Amy. "We'll find him. I promise you, we will." It was all she could think to say, even if she had no idea where to start looking.

[20:54] belegwen14: Mabry turned to Ari, her face pale. "Eli . . . turned into a bunch of sticks."
[20:55] Medrau May: Meddy gave up wrestling with the cat and stood back in her corner with her arms folded tight across her chest. "Is this n-normal for you guys?"
[20:57] Seo Sciathan: "This? Hardly. Kidnapping? Mainstream," Ray muttered darkly. Her eyes scanned the corners of the room carefully. Despite the fire, she still felt a chill, and that meant one thing...
[21:07] garnetcloud2: "Someone's gonna die for this." It was said very quietly, but there was still determination behind it. "I'm gonna fucking kill whoever did this." Amy laughed suddenly, then gestured at the fire. A layer of frost covered it, leaving a pile of steaming wood. She turned to look at the shocked faces of her friends, smiling. "Thanks for all the presents, guys. I'm sure 'Eli' appreciated them." She giggled, heading for the doorway. "See you guys later, I've gotta go."
[21:07] garnetcloud2: Jalen grabbed her arm before she got more than a step out of the room. "Yes, you're going, but upstairs. I'll go out. Not you." Amy yanked her arm free, glared at her husband, and stormed out of the room.
[21:08] lefthandedsidhe: Where the frost had replaced fire on the dead twigs, a new light appeared, this one glowing a sickly green.
[21:11] Medrau May: Meddy seemed to be at a total loss, wide eyes flitting around the room at random. After Amy had stormed out, she started edging along the wall towards the nearest exit herself. This didn't seem like the safest spot to be in just now.

[21:12] Shingumisaturn: Ari said nothing as she put down her package, a second eyebrow joinng the first temporarily at the explaination. It was probably a bad idea to laugh at that, so she said nothing outside of. "Kidnapped. Been there, done that, nearly drowned."she muttered, and settled into a nearby corner.

[21:15] Seo Sciathan: Her eyes flitted back to the twigs as they started burning once more, fists clenching. "You have got to be shitting me." Well, at least they knew where to look now.
[21:21] garnetcloud2: Jalen's gaze followed Ray's, and he tensed. Of course. He was torn between going after his wife, and waiting here to see if anything else happened. He was almost sure that Amy wouldn't leave on her own. Almost.
[21:21] lefthandedsidhe: The green flame grew until Maleficent appeared standing in the center of the room. Her cold laughter rang out.
[21:22] belegwen14: Mabry stared at the dark fairy in shock. "You . . . you aren't supposed to be here inside the wards!"
[21:25] Medrau May: Meddy froze part-way to the nearest door, her eyes somehow widening even further. "Is that who I think it is...?"
[21:26] belegwen14: (BTW, Meddy, in case no one has told you, I play Maleficent.)

[21:29] Shingumisaturn: Ari let out a few choice words, borrowing phrases from her crew. "Well, shit" She glanced at Meddy, almost giving a wry smile. "I think this almost deserves a 'welcome to our life'" She commented offhanded while casually slipped her fans out of their belt.
[21:31] Seo Sciathan: "You bitch, what did you with him?" Ray demanded immediately, lightning at her fingertips. "Where's Eli?"
[21:35] garnetcloud2: Jalen wanted to know the same thing, and found himself wishing he'd actually brought his sword to this party. Of course, he should have known better, but seeing as how it was a birthday party for a child... Perhaps learning magic wouldn't be such a bad idea after all.

"You can't." He caught her arm and took the compass from her while she glared daggers at Maleficent. "Bite me." Amy pulled her arm free and started towards the faerie. "What the fuck did you do with my baby?"
[21:55] lefthandedsidhe: "My dear child, the question is less of what I did to your baby as it is of what is to become of him now." Maleficent took a slow step towards Amy, her black robe trailing along the floor.

"If you don't get to the point, I'm going to fry you."
