As usual, Song pounced on the opportunity to give a lecture on the science of magic. Sitting up straight with one index finger raised, she explained-
"The standard spells are the ones which are commonly used, taught, and known. The ones which Sora learns in the game. Spell Tree refers to the different levels of a spell, such as Fire, Fira and Firaga. Think of each level as a higher branch. Most of the spells developed by the Refugees are combinations or variations of the standard spells. My dream spell is a variation of a non-standard spell, redesigned to resemble a standard one. Non-standard spell can refer to anything you see a magician doing that doesn't fit into one of the trees. Merlin's shapeshifting, anything that involves a fancy ritual... and Maleficent had her own form of dream magic." She waved a hand dismissively. "Of course, the terms we use aren't very exact. 'Standard' here really means 'standard for the Refugees'."
