Who: Aqua, King Mickey
What: Aqua tries to sneak away, but she's caught before she can.
Where: Disney Castle's Gummi hangar
When: 4-5 AM, Thursday, August 26, 2010
Note: Kept as spoiler-free as possible, though there may be one thing, which you will need to highlight to read. Tried to keep everything even slightly spoilery vague.
She walked down the dark halls, careful not to not make a sound. She didn't want to disturb anyone - especially after they'd treated her like an honored guest – and she certainly didn't want anyone following her. She had to do this alone. No one could help her, even if they wanted to. Or at least, she wouldn't let them. She couldn't allow her friends to be hurt anymore.
It seemed like ages had passed before she finally reached her destination. Her eyes scanned the area as she stepped inside the Gummi hangar, stopping on one ship in particular. It looked more sturdy and reliable than the others, though she was certain all of them were serviceable; Mickey wouldn't have anything less in his castle, after all. That was the one she'd take, she decided. And now was the perfect time to do it, she thought, noting that Chip and Dale were asleep and that Cid was nowhere to be found. She took a deep breath and checked one more time to make sure she had everything she needed before walking up to the ship, once again marvelling at the things that had happened since she'd been on the Dark Coastline.
"Aqua."
She paused, looking back over her shoulder. Mickey stood behind her, looking as if he would be heading into battle at any moment. She sighed. Of course he was aware of this. It was Mickey, and this was his castle, his ships... And he'd known her concerns as soon as she'd arrived here. She should have known he wouldn't let her slip away unnoticed.
"You're going to find them, aren't you?" he asked. There was no need for him to elaborate further. Her hand clenched around her so-called good luck charm.
"Yes," she replied simply. She felt, rather than heard, the little King walk up next to her, and glanced down at him questioningly.
"I'm going with you," he announced quietly. He held up a hand when she started to protest. "They're my friends, too. I want to help."
She remained silent for a moment. He was right; she had no right to deny him the chance to help. But that didn't change the fact that this mission would not be easy or simple in any way. Would bringing him along really help, or would it just make things harder?
"I'm the only one who can get to Ven," she said finally, relenting. Mickey nodded, readily accepting that fact. "But Terra..." Her voice trailed off, uncertain. She didn't even know where to begin with him. Why did everything have to be so complicated?
"Welp, we'd better get goin'," Mickey said, quickly taking on his usual cheerful tone. "If we don't leave now, someone'll try to stop us, or come along for the ride. C'mon, I'll show you around the ship. She called The Minnie," he said with a smile, patting the Gummi ship Aqua had been planning to use. She smiled to herself. The King's ship, was it? No wonder it was such a beauty.
