"Why not just get competent in reading ancient Greek scratch?" Seemed like a perfectly reasonable thing to say. Although it probably was bad for her to mindlessly research anything and everything in the library without some idea of where to go. Also if she found the answer and died of starvation that'd kinda suck all around.
