It was now uncommon for Mabry to be up at three a.m. For the past several months, Ashlyn had been in the habit of sleeping through the night and so, blessedly, had Mabry. But tonight, she was up at dead of night, tiptoeing through the dark hallways of Rainbow's End.

She giggled quietly, as she made her way to the main living room and thence to the the many stockings that hung all around the enormous fireplace. Finding the correct stocking--Josiah's, she began to fill it, stuffing it completely with feathers of all shapes, sizes, and colors.

Then, her mischief accomplished, she slipped back up the stairs to bed, an impish smile still on her face.
