Star Market: Day 5

Who: Everyone ever
What: Star Market, Day 5
When: Thursday, August 20th
Where: Ingary

The Market's on a downhill slope in activity, but many merchants have stayed on for those last minute purchases. Those can make a bundle if you strike the right deal, after all! As for those less-than-optimistic rumors, there's been a development - people are now talking about something attacking the Market, but being unable to get in because of the security. Be on the lookout for any trouble; security's only risen as time's passed!

Ash had been compelled to throw away the pendant, but once she'd put her head back together on the issue, she thought it would be silly. Better for her to own it than for someone who would eat it or worse.

First she had no heart at all, now one too many.

The one thing she did do however was tuck the pendant down into the collar of her shirt so that it could not be seen by anyone. A few of the more interesting-looking or possibly magically endowed patrons of the market still gave her wary looks however the rest of the population seemed to be giving her less of a birth.

She found her way into the tent of a weapons seller who approached her.

"The stone you have in your purse, Miss. Could I persuade you to part with it?"

Ash frowned, then remembered what she had picked up during her unscheduled trip to Agrabah. "I'm a gunslinger." she eyed him, careful not to let on how little she knew of its true value. "What do you think you can sell me from this collection that would come close to its value?"

The man was not dishonest, that much was certain. He held up a finger and dissapeared behind the counter into a back room. The gun he returned with was almost steam-punk in design.

"I was wondering about you when you came in. You have something on you, that under normal circumstances I would have thrown you out of my shop for daring to hold. But you are not a magic user and you do not have ill intents." he touched the spot on her shirt where the lump of the pendant was hiding. "What I have here is a tool that would be useful to someone like yourself. Magic-technology."

"Magi-tek."

"You've heard of it!"

"In passing." Ash wasn't ready to explain having played Final Fantasy VI.

"This isn't the same kind of strength as the armour and it is not as powerful as even the true spell unless perhaps you decide to learn magic for yourself. Its properties include Fire, Ice and Thunder- basic first level elements at half strength. It may get you out of a tight spot someday."

Ash nodded and handed over the stone he wanted. "I think it's an acceptable trade."

"I'm going to add something to the price."

"And that would be?"

"If you would have a cup of tea with me."

"I think that's an acceptable extra."

The merchant was a very intelligent man and Ash could have easily spent the rest of the day there but she had one thing left to get. She'd bought the practical item, the mysterious and possibly dangerous item and she had one thing left. The utterly impractical personal purchase.

This turned out to be an incredible royal purple and jeweled taffeta affair of a dress that was just too damn ridiculous and princessy not to pass up. She packed up her normal skirt and blouse into her bag and decided to go for a bit of a wander for fun, to see if she ran into anyone she knew

You know, it was really, really hard to maintain a sour mood when you just passed one of your friends in the most absurdly froofy gown this side of Andalasia. "Ash?" Ren asked, wondering if her lousy sleep patterns lately had finally given way to hallucinations.

Well, at least it was a relatively nice hallucination, all things considered.

Ash waved. "In the flesh." She glanced at Ren's expression. "What do you think? I was shopping for the wedding and I couldn't resist getting this thing. Not to mention I should blend right in on my Andelasia trip!"
